LAGAWE,
Ifugao -- The Sangguniang Bayan of Kiangan was awarded the 2012 Provincial
Legislative Award during the Gotad Ad Ifugao and 47th founding anniversary
last week.
The award, initiated by the
Philippine Councilors League-Ifugao chapter in partnership with the Department
of the Interior and Local Government here, sought to recognize a
sangguniang bayan that excelled in enactment of ordinances or resolutions that
create desirable socio-economic and environmental outcomes.
The award highlighted innovations and excellence in the local
legislative process to inspire other local legislatures to perform better and
institutionalize a system of recognition to the SB for exemplary
performance.
The Local Legislative Award is conferred to a SB with demonstrated
exemplary performance for the period July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2012.
Kiangan was first in 4th to 6th class municipalities
category with an 88.86 percent over-all
performance rating.
It was awarded a plaque of appreciation and will represent the
province in the legislative award regional evaluation.
Second to Kiangan was Tinoc town with an over-all performance
rating of 70.86%, while third was Banaue with 62.91%.
Records obtained from the DILG showed the provincial award committee
chose the SBs of Banaue, Kiangan and Tinoc as entrees for provincial award
after submitting their executive legislative agenda report -- one of the criteria
with heavy rating point of 35.
The regional evaluation is expected to be held from November to
December.
