BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan warned peddlers here who keep
violating vending rules at the city market that they will be dealt with
accordingly.
The mayor was reacting to reports that many vendors from Block IV have
gone back to peddling their ware along the streets under what they termed as
“bitbit-paninda” scheme thereby clogging the roads and sidewalks anew.
“If that is the case, then we
will have to cancel their stall awards at Block IV,” the mayor said.
He encouraged people to report the names of those engaging in such
practice to the Baguio City Market Authority (BCMA) so the city can act on
their complaints.
“We understand their plight those occupying Block IV as they really are
hard up in selling their products because of their location but they have to be
content with the opportunity given to them. If they can’t cooperate, then
they have to face the consequence,” the mayor said.
The mayor said the improvement project for both Block III and Block IV
is now in the works with the bidding now being fast-tracked.
The project will cover the improvement of the roofing of the structures
for protection from the rains.
After the improvement work, he said the city will implement the zoning
of the stalls in both structures to make them more orderly.
