P400K robbed from women miner-delegates in conference


BAGUIO CITY-  An estimated amount of  P400,000 in cash, valuables including  laptops and  cellphones  were robbed from participants of  the  1st   artisanal small scale gold mining  women’s  summit   here March  2 to 4.

Some 50 participants billeted at Villa Romana at Pacdal were robbed dawn of Monday some hours when they arrived  in the city early morning of  March 2. 

Participants of the three- day activity are spouses of  small scale miners  all over the country, others from non government organizations and government  agencies including employees from  Bantox International, the sponsoring organization.   

Participants noted that the robbers entered through the windows and the doors of the hotel. 

It was learned that Bantox paid some of the equivalent amount  taken from the participants.


In a related  incident, a councilor from Kalinga said his laptop and cellphone were stolen when he attended one activity held in the same hotel in another separate event. --
