50 evade death in another Benguet road accident

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – In yet another Benguet road vehicular accident, fifty passengers cheated death and went home unscathed after their Baguio-bound passenger bus collided head on with a north bound elf truck in a sharp curve at Sito Sayet Caliking in Atok, Benguet afternoon of Sept. 27.

Benguet provincial police director, Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said the elf-truck driver was the lone reported injury during the mishap while the 47 bus passengers and the two companions of the elf truck were unhurt after the accident.

He identified the wounded driver of the elf truck bearing the plate number WHM-274 as Freddie DulinenAnanao, 38 and a resident of Buguias, Benguet.

Azurin said that the investigation revealed that the GL passenger bus, with 47 passengers including the driver Bastian Badongen Bosaing and his conductor, was ascending towards Baguio City while the elf truck was descending towards Buguias when the two vehicles met and collided at the center of the road.

He added that the bus passengers and the two companions of the elf truck driver were unhurt after the incident happened, and were the ones who brought the elf truck driver to the nearest hospital after seeing him injured.

Azurin disclosed that both drivers agreed to settle the damages incurred in their respective vehicles amicably to prevent further filing of cases.

The police officer called on to motorists plying the Halsema Highway to be vigilant and always on the lookout for incoming dangers on the highest highway system in Luzon.

“Please always check on your vehicles for its condition before driving on the road,” Azurin warned, following the recent vehicular accident in the nearby municipality of Buguias that killed 13 students.
