Baguio execs probe trash hauling deal

BAGUIO CITY – The city government is set to probe expenses being incurred in the hauling of waste to the Engineered Sanitary Landfill (ESL) in Urdaneta City.

City General Services Officer Romeo Concio said,” the agreement between the Urdaneta City ESL and the city government is nearing its end which will allow the city to evaluate anew other proposals that can be more advantageous to the city.”

Concio said, “the Capas, Tarlac ESL facility has communicated anew with the city government of a much lower tipping fee.”

Metro Clark Waste Management Corporation (MCWMC) or the Tarlac facility lowered its tipping fee of P800 to P550 and even P500 per metric ton.

The city government has a pending agreement with N4th Enterprises which brokered tipping services to the Urdaneta City ESL which offered the best option at that time.
Concio said, “the contract between the city government and the Urdaneta City ESL will end this December.”

“We will again re-assess the total costs of ESL services for both facilities based on the new rates as soon as offers are presented.
