BONTOC, Mountain Province -- The
provincial government will provide financial assistance to victims
of vehicular accidents and calamities in the province to help families
cope with the situation.
This, as the SangguniangPanlalawigan approved
a resolution authorizing the provincial governor to draw an amount from the
Quick Response Fund of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Fund as assistance to victims of natural and man-made
calamities, according to Vice Gov. BonifacioLacwasan, Jr.
“Unfortunate incidents or calamities are unpredictable
that sometimes victims are helpless and oftentimes seek financial assistance
from the provincial government’, the resolution states, thus the need of having
a stand-by fund as assistance.
This year’s PDRRM Fund is pegged
at P30.2 million of which P9.08 million is the quick response or reserve fund.
Meanwhile, PDRRM officer AnacletoTangilag
reported during the PDRRM council meeting, the provincial
government through the PDRRMO has given relief assistance to families of
misfortunes and calamities.
Relief assistance was provided by the
provincial government, Office of Civil Defense, the Department of Social
Welfare and Development and the Philippine National Red Cross – Mt. Province
Chapter.
Recipients of relief assistance the two
months include families of Special Action Force troopers from the province
who were killed by Muslim separatists recently in Maguindanao.
The family of one from Betwagan,
Sadanga has yet to receive
assistance including four
