TABUK CITY,
Kalinga -- The city election office has devised a strategy in implementation of
its barangay off-site voter registration.
City election officer ReymanSolbita said off-site voter registration would be held during celebrations such as barangay fiestas, festivals, church patron day, thanksgiving, barangay assemblies and days where there are big gathering of people.
In coordination with barangay officials, the Comelec would bring biometric system to sites.
He said they have a calendar of big events of the city’s 42 barangays.
The city election office is now up with the second round in its off-site voter registration.
Solbita said they need to follow up barangays already covered to make sure they have not missed qualified voters.
Those who were not reached in the first round have chances in the second round, he said.
Tabuk City, as the province’s capital, has the highest number of registered voters with 54,606 based on the latest figure of the city election office.
Registration of voters is open until October 31, this year, in preparation for the May 2016 synchronized national and local elections.
