BANGUED, Abra -- Members of the Casamata Hill
National Park – Protected Area Management Board are set to rejuvenate
ecological biodiversity of the Casamata Hill as Bangued’s breathing ground and
prevent squatters from settling in the area.
Department
of Environment and Natural Resources-Cordillera Regional Director Ralph C.
Pablo, PAMB chair, assured his support to initiatives
of the PAMB members to make programs for the endeavor.
The PAMB has
started to delineate boundaries of the CHNP to prevent further intrusion by
informal settlers.
Survey and
mapping of the CHNP area were conducted by the DENR wherein settlers were identified.
While
waiting for the approval of the map, the PAMP will focus drafting of the
constitution and by-laws of the CHNP-PAMB, and preparation of work and
financial plan to source funds for its implementation.
The
CHNP-PAMB members include Carlo A. Plurad of the Provincial Planning and
Development Office; Cesar P. Valera, Bangued Municipal Planning and Development
Coordinator; Gerardo B. Palcon of the Abra State Institute of Sciences and
Technology, representing the academic community; Pura C. Sumangil of the
Concerned Citizens of Abra for Good Government; Isidro F. Vasquez of the
KilusangSagipGubat at Buhay; SangguniangPanlalawiganCesario B. Barona
representing indigenous peoples; Samuel D. Dapapa of the AbraGimpongTingguian
Association; Atty. Russell A. Bragas of the National Commission for the
Indigenous Peoples; Dr. Maria Teresa B. Benas of the Philippine Information
Agency; village chief Ronnie B. Bringas of Angad; Corazon S. Azusano of
Dangdangla and Ms. Florence B. Salimbay of Zone 5, Bangued. Their
appointment as members was duly signed by the DENR
Secretary dated August 25, 2015.--
