 11 PDEA informants  get P2.6 M reward

BAGUIO CITY – Three informants from the Cordillera were among 11 persons who received cash rewards from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for helping in anti-drug operations nationwide.

Tipsters received a total of P2.6 million in cash in a ceremony held at the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City on Monday.

The first tipster from the Cordilleras got P49,000 for helping PDEA-Cordillera agents seize over 40,000 grams of marijuana bricks and arrest a drug trafficker in Baguio City in December last year.

The second informant received P80,000 for relaying the transport of 60,000 grams of marijuana bricks by four drug couriers in San Juan, La Union in March.

Another tipster got P34,000 for helping arrest a drug suspect with 285 grams of shabu in this city in April.

The cash reward is part of PDEA’s Operation: Private Eye aimed to encourage citizens to report any illegal drug activities in their community.

Of the 11 tipsters, one received the biggest reward of P2 million for helping the Quezon City police seize 44,000 grams of shabu and arrest two pushers in June.

2 bodies found  inside SUV

MEXICO, Pampanga — The Pampanga Provincial Police Office is investigating possible leads to solve the mysterious deaths of two persons inside a black Hyundai Tucson wagon (MOB-19) parked at a mall here last Monday.

Case officer SPO3 Robert S Reynoso, said a security guard of SM found the dead bodies with gunshot wounds of Aly Mendoza Santos, 50, married, of Barangay Sta Catalina, Lubao, Pampanga and LiezelCorpuz Gabriel, single, 27, of Barangay Concepcion, Pampanga.

Reynoso had a bullet wound in the left side of his head while Gabriel had two head shots.

The vehicle was parked at F4 Parking Lot of SM City Pampanga when responding members of the Mexico Municipal Police Station arrived.

The police were called to the scene by SM security guard Jestoni Bacnutan who found the victim’s car while patrolling at 7 a.m. Monday.

A homicide investigator who declined to be identified said a possible love triangle is being pursued in the case, but did not give any other details. – Franco Regala

Woman kills hubby over household chores

 BAGUIO CITY – A 61-year-old woman killed her husband by hitting him with a frying pan on the head following a quarrel over household chores here. Cyril Capis, 67, of 112 Lower Pinget, was declared dead on arrival at the Pines Doctors’ Hospital on Monday, according to case investigator SPO1 Michael Anthony Quela.

The victim’s wife, Caridad, was charged with parricide before the city prosecutor’s office.

Reports said the couple had just woken up at past 5 a.m. when they argued on who was going to cook breakfast and wash the dishes.

Cyril reportedly punched his wife on the jaw. Caridad reportedly took a frying pan and hit the man on the head, causing him to lose consciousness.

He was rushed at Pines Doctors’ Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.

P7.8M  marijuana destroyed in Benguet

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- Police and anti-narcotics agents destroyed  P7.8 million worth of marijuana plants at Sitio Balbalnog and Bang-ay of Barangay Badeo, Kibungan and SitioNagawa, and Saleng of Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet on Sept. 20 – 24.

Senior Supt. David Q. Lacdan, Benguet police chief  said cops destroyed in 18 different sites the 33, 375 fully grown marijuana plants and 35, 500 seedlings. 

The operatives included Kibungan and Bakun cops and  Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency-Cordillera agents.

No cultivator in marijuana plantation was arrested.

New Cordillera police director Chief Supt. Ulysses J. Abellera earlier directed all unit commanders to sustain anti-illegal drugs campaign and arrest protectors of all forms of illegal activities in the region.

Farmer nabbed for shabu in buy-bust operation 

BUGUIAS, Benguet – Police arrested an alleged drug pusher in a buy-bust operation here at Barangay Loo Sept. 27.
Town police head Chief Insp. Fernando S. Botangen, identified the suspect as MarvelonTangecLudaes aka “Belon”, 28, farmer and driver. Cops confiscated from him shabu worth P10,000 and cell phone.

The arrested drug pusher and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to  Buguias police station where a case for violation of Republic Act 9165  Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law was prepared against him.

Coed hurt after jumping off jeep with driver who had bad intention 

BAGUIO CITY – A student of Saint Louis University here was injured after she jumped off a passenger jeepney whose driver refused to stop the vehicle even after she told him she wanted to get off.

Police report said the incident happened around 9:50 p.m. Thursday when Judy-an Tega, 21, rode a yellow PUJ bearing plate number AVC 404, whose route was Baguio- Puliwes.

 Investigation disclosed the victim rode the PUJ along Barangay San Vicente, and when they reached City Business District particularly near Baguio City Hall, the victim told the driver to stopped but refused instead he drove his vehicle until they reached Brower Road, Campo Filipino. The victim felt nervous the driver had ill intentions so she jumped from the vehicle suffering injuries in different parts of her body. Victim claimed that she left her small black bag pack containing P100 and Samsung cellphone worth P5, 000 inside the vehicle.

Police brought the victim to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for  treatment while alarm was raised by police to arrest the driver.

 Man nabbed for shabu

CONNER, Apayao – Police arrested here Thursday in Barangay Ripang a certain  TadeoSibalAddulam for illegal drugs.

Confiscated from the suspect were two sachets of “shabu”, P6200 marked money and cell phone. Addulam was jailed.

Village chairman nabbed for gun

TAYUM, Abra – A village chief was arrested for carrying a gun here  Sunday. Jonathan Benwagen, 36, chairman of Barangay Naglibacan in Tineg, was driving an unregistered motorcycle when he was pulled over by police officers manning a checkpoint in Barangay Gaddani, according to Abra police director Senior Supt. Antonio Bartolome

.

During inspection, the officers discovered that Benwagen was carrying a pistol loaded with 16 bullets. Benwagen failed to show documents authorizing him to carry a firearm.      

Burnham Hotel wall crumbles; 1 dies, 5 hurt

BAGUIO CITY --  A construction worker died while five others were hurt when one of the remaining walls of the old Burnham Hotel building which is being demolished collapsed around noon Sept. 26.

Authorities identified the casualty as Bryan Tangsilan, of San Carlos Heights, here, who was hit in the head by the crumbling wall. He was taken to the hospital but declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Those injured were identified by police as Jordan V. Aldez Francisco, 19; William Flores; Jonel Francisco Aquino, 19; Jimboy de Guzman Paraiso, 21 and Robert BalayasAlviar, 49, all stay-in workers of the Tionsan family, who owns the property where the work is being done.

Investigation showed the workers were busy demolishing the structure of the former Burnham Hotel when the concrete wall of the upper floor suddenly collapsed and pinned them down.

2 killed in gun attack

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Two persons were killed while three others were wounded in an attack by motorcycle-riding men in Arayat town in this province on Monday.

Jaymar Bulanadi, 21, died at the scene from gunshot wounds while his companion Ronnie Lugue, 21, was declared dead on arrival at the Arayat District Hospital, where their friends – Jayvee de Leon, ArjayMallar and RizalynPaguinto – were taken for treatment.

Pampanga police director Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono said the victims were in a tricycle when the armed men blocked them in Barangay Areanas.

The suspects took the victims’ phones and shot them before fleeing.

The assailants shot at a Mitsubishi Montero (ABF-8092) driven by RoderMillares, 41, as they were escaping from the crime scene.

‘Drug-laced bread’ downs 4; businessman nabbed

SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan — A chef and three other employees of a resort, here, were rushed to the hospital and treated for food poisoning Sept. 26 after eating bread given to them by a hotel guest, whom police suspect had laced with “shabu.” Chief Insp. Crisante Sadino, local police chief, said hotel guest Archie Bautista, 30, a businessman from Angeles City, is in police custody and a sample of the bread has been taken to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for examination. The victims were also identified by Sadino as Moonlight Bay Resort employees Leonora Calica-Sumera, 68, the chef; Dessy Ann Buado, 19, front desk clerk; Analyn C. Taxi driver held up

BAGUIO CITY – A taxi driver identified as Mario Miana Villanueva, was held up by three unidentified male persons here along Km. 4 Asin Rd. about 1:30 a.m. of Sept. 29. 

Police investigation disclosed the suspects flagged down the victim in front of 7-11 Grocery Store in Abanao Square and told him to ferry them at Km. 4 Asin Rd.  While traversing at the said place, one of the suspects who is seated at the back suddenly grabbed his hair while the other suspect who was sitting beside him punched his face and took his sling bag containing P4, 200 one 7610 Nokia cellphone and driver’s license. The suspects ran towards the Rubber Tree Alley.

Farmer stabbed by nephew

MANABO, Abra – A farmer was stabbed by his nephew here Sept. 29, in Barangay San Juan Norte, Manabo. The victim was identified as Felimon Castro Ayat, 38, while his nephew was named as Christopher Ayat Pagod, 27.

Investigation disclosed the victim and suspect with other companions were having a drinking spree when the suspect had a heated argument with one Romy Ayat. The victim noticed the said heated altercation and tried to pacify them but the suspect suddenly drew a knife from his waist and stabbed him twice. As a result, the victim sustained stabbed wounds on his back and left side of his body and was rushed by responding cops to Manabo Rural Health Unit but was later transferred and confined to Abra Provincial Hospital.

Weapon used could not be found. Suspect was arrested and is now in jail.

Farmer jailed for rape 

CONNER, Apayao – Cops arrested and jailed Ricardo Tumbaga Sr., 64, farmer here Monday for rape after Francisco S. Donato, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court, Branch 26, 2ndJudicial Region, Luna, Apayao issued warrant for his arrest. No bail was recommended.

Thief slain in Bulacan clash

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A suspected motorcycle thief was killed after he engaged in a shootout with police officers manning a checkpoint in San Rafael, Bulacan Sept. 26..

Reports said the officers signaled the suspect to pull over but he reportedly pulled a gun and shot them, triggering a firefight.

Police recovered from the suspect a 9mm pistol and a plateless Yamaha Mio motorcycle.

Chief Superintendent Rudy Lacadin, Police Regional Office 3 director, said the checkpoint was part of the Oplan Lambat Sibat being implemented in Barangay Talacsan. – RicSapnu                

Fiscal surrenders rape suspect

PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A certain Jhonny Bakidan Dawaton, 28, was surrendered by Jeff Dugayon, a prosecutor to cops here Monday. Police said the suspect was wanted for rape with arrested issued against him by Marcelino K. Wakas, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Branch 25, Bulanao, Tabuk City who recommended bail.

3 young men stabbed

BANGUED, Abra – Three young men were stabbed by three assailants here about 7:40 p.m. Sept. 27 along Santiago St., Zone 5. The victims were identified as: Lester AgpadTubaña, 18; JomarAgpadTubaña ,19and Jing Guinaban, 18, all  residents of Sallapadan town.

The arrested suspect was identified as John Carlo Quesada, 22, of Naglibakan, Tineg. Two other suspects who eluded arrest were identified as Jeric Bergonia and Ryan Bergonia.

Investigation disclosed that the victims were on their way to Bangued food court when the suspects challenged them to a fight. Then, without any reason, suspects simultaneously stabbed them on different parts of their bodies. Lester and Jomar are now confined at the Seares Hospital, Bangued while Guinaban was confined at the Abra Provincial Hospital. Manhunt operation is now being conducted to arrest Jeric and Ryan Bergonia.

Santiago City resident’s car stolen in Baguio

BAGUO CITY – An alleged case of carnapping transpired night of Sept. 26 here at No. 20, Manongdo Apartment, Private Road, Magsaysay Avenue. The victim was identified as Jeffrey Santiago Gabriel, 31, consultant, and resident of Santiago City. Investigation disclosed on Sept. 25, at about 4 p.m.,  the victim parked his silver gray Toyota Innova bearing plate no. AAV 8024 along the road of the place after coming from Santiago. At about 1 p.m. same date, he checked his car and found it still at parking area. But early morning, he discovered his vehicle was missing. CCTV footage of the incident was subjected for review even as persons who have knowledge of the whereabouts of the car were urged to report the matter to police.

Construction worker stabbed, mauls attacker

BAGUIO CITY – A certain JesrelLingbawan Dominguez, 19, construction worker, was reportedly stabbed by Bryan Linggayo, Sept. 27 here along Bokawkan Road, Dizon Subdivision.

Investigation disclosed while Dominguez and his five unidentified companions were walking, they met Linggayo’s group. Police said Linggayo suddenly stabbed the right shoulder of Dominguez but the latter retaliated and mauled Linggayo. Both of them were rushed to Baguio General Hospital for medical treatment.

Man held for punching taxi driver, causing injury to cop 

BAGUIO CITY – A driver was arrested after he reportedly punched a taxi driver whose vehicle he rode with his cousins and later pushed a cop whose hand was injured as a result.

Police identified the suspect as Quiñones Buendia, 53 whle the victim was named as Napoleon Jude DoclosenSarol Jr., 34, taxi driver. 

Police report said the incident happened Sept. 26 at about 2:40 p.m. along Naguilian Road here. Investigation disclosed Buendia, who was under the influenced of liquor, and his cousins flagged down the Innova taxi driven by Sarol at Dominican Hill Barangay, then requested him to bring them home. While on their way, a misunderstanding ensued between them regarding their route until they arrived at the above mentioned place. Buendia got down from the taxi and suddenly punched the left eye and mouth of Sarol. The suspect again entered the   taxi and both fought each other. Sarol accidentally stepped on the accelerator and the taxi bumped a concrete pavement that caused damages on the bumper of the taxi. Buendia who was injured on his lips, ran and went to their house.

Police went to the residence of Buendia where SPO3 Albert E. Dolinta and barangay chief Quinoñes asked him to go out. However, he became unruly and pushed Dolinta who was injured on his right hand after it hit on the edge of the steel gate.

OFW nabbed for firing gun

HINGYON, Ifugao – Police arrested RamyHangdaanNabanalan, 27, OFW here at Ibutangon, Mompolia, Sept, 26 for illegal possession of firearm.

Police said at about 7:19 p.m. that day cops received information a cellphone text message that an unidentified person boarded a blue tricycle heading toward Mompolia and fired a gun. Cops immediately responded but the tricycle boarded by the suspect was not found at Mompolia. While searching for possible exit of the said vehicle, cops again received another cellphone call from a concerned citizen of said place at around 7:50 p.m. that Nabanalan was firing a gun on his way home at SitioIbutangon. Police saw the suspect sitting on a pathway with his gun. The suspect, who was under the influence of liquor, was arrested and confiscated Cal. 22 pistol loaded with two bullets.

Widow surrenders firearm

BANGUED, Abra – A 71-year-old widow identified as WarlitaCalpitoBanayos, unemployed, and a resident of Ubbog, Lipcan here voluntarily surrendered a homemade firearm without ammunition at police station here on

Sept. 26.
