Woman killed, three others hurt in Apayao road mishap


PUDTOL, Apayao – A woman was killed while three others were hurt when the vehicles they were riding in collided along national highway here at Nagsungbatan, Swan Pudtol, around 2:40 p.m. Sept. 20..

Police said the accident involved a tricycle driven by Jaime Cariaga Junio, 47 which collided with a motorcycle registered to Florentino Masalay Bataan and driven by Romeo Dicay Bayedbed, 34.

Initial investigation disclosed the tricycle was traversing the road from Mataguisi to Poblacion, Pudtol with his passengers: Clarita Ilayat Ulidan,  64; EstelitaIlayat Agmata 70  and Jaymart Talosig Junio, 8, son of the driver when the vehicle collided with the motorcycle that overtook a truck taking the opposite lane while proceeding toward Mataguisi.

The passengers of the tricycle were rushed to Amma Jadsac District Hospital, Pudtol by the concerned citizens. Agmata and Talosig Junio were taken to Far North Luzon General Hospital and Medical center where Agmata died while undergoing treatment. Junio was taken to Cagayan Valley Medical Center, Tuguegarao City. The driver of the tricycle had scratches on his knees while the driver of the motorcycle had abrasions on his face. 

Bayedbed with his back rider, Eugene Malan Mangayao, 29, surrendered at Pudtol police station and were brought at AmmaJadsac District Hospital for medical treatment. Bayedbed is now under custody of police while his back rider was released same day.
