COMMUNITY BILLBOARD

Baguio
City is experiencing climate change in the form of powerful storms which cause
the loss of lives and property. The
recent typhoon Lando brought intense winds to our city, which shook homes and
trees, telling us that typhoons today are much stronger and fiercer than they
used to be. Climate change is a wake-up call to each of us to be more conscious
in choosing sustainable lifestyles.
The public is invited to participate in Climate Change Consciousness Week on Nov. 19-24 at the
Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary (MES) at Campo Sioco, Baguio City. The theme for
this year’s celebration is “Caring for our Common Home”, inspired by the
Encyclical of Pope Francis, Laudato Si’. The Baguio community is invited to
learn more about climate change, and how each one of us can do our share in
caring for our common home.
Weeklong activities include reflection on
caring for our common home, Garden Day and Permaculture Stories, Art Workshops
and Recycling Demonstrations, Zero Waste Day, Meditation and Healing,
Vegetarian Cooking Demonstration, Mural Making and Performances by Baguio
Artists, Film Shows and Conversations on Sustainable Living.
Throughout the week, exhibits will be open
for viewing, including Erlyn Ruth Alcantara’s “Baguio, Then and Now”. Other
exhibitors include: The Baguio We Want - No Waste Cluster; Brahma Kumaris
Environment Initiative; Northern Luzon Pranic Healing Center; Tebtebba; Cordillera
Womens Education, Action, and Research Center; IPEACE;
Katinnulong dagiti Umili ti Amianan a Luzon (Kaduami); MES Sunbeams Daycare; and
Silvino Dulnuan with other Baguio artists.
All activities are free and open to the
public. Snacks and meals are available at a minimal price. For more details
