Narcotics agents, cops destroy
P65-M marijuana
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- A total
of P65.6 million worth of marijuana plants was destroyed by joint operatives of
the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Police Regional Office-Cordillera in
a raid of clandestine plantations in Benguet and Kalinga provinces last week.
The four-day marijuana eradication operations, dubbed “Oplan Last Salvo”
by PDEA-Cordillera and “Oplan Bigtime” by
regional police, uprooted marijuana plants in a total of 78 plantation sites in
the two provinces.
2 dead in Ilocos mishap
BANTAY, Ilocos Sur -- A salesman and his
55-year-old aunt died after their motorcycle collided with a car driven by a
retired policeman here Wednesday.
Roger Bautista Jr.,
25, and Magdalena Natividad were declared dead on arrival at the Metro
Vigan Cooperative Hospital, where the former police officer, identified as
Clemente Panela, 49, was also brought for treatment.
Case investigator
Police Officer 3 Jennifer Tacla said Panela, who was driving a Mitsubishi
Gallant (UAR-450), sideswiped Jonathan Padre in Barangay Puspus and another car
in Barangay Pulag before figuring in a collision with the motorcycle of
Bautista and Natividad and a van.

into a power post after hitting the victim’s motorcycle.
Businesswoman mauls
live-in partner
BAGUIO CITY – A case is now being prepared
against a businesswoman who allegedly mauled her live-in partner even outside
the main police station here last week. A police report said at about 9:43 p.m.
Tuesday along Abanao St. here fronting Station 7, Rogelio Erese Miranda, 39,
painter, of Teacher’s Village, Marcos Highway, was mauled by his live-in
partner identified as Maricela Urbano Guerrero, 34, of Biñan, Laguna, and
residing at P. Burgos Street here.
A police report said
the suspect beat the victim inside a bar in Maharlika building located at
Abanao Street and Magsaysay Avenue here around 8:40 p.m. of same date when they
had a drinking spree together with his friends. They were investigated inside
the PS7 office when the victim decided not to file a formal complaint against
his live-in partner. However, when they were allowed to go home at around 9:40
p.m. that night, the suspect again attacked and mauled the victim outside the
police station causing injuries and scratches on his face and neck. Case
is now ready for inquest proceedings.
Trike driver dead as truck
rams vehicle
TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The driver of a
motorcycle was killed here around 8 p.m. Tuesday when his vehicle was rammed by
an Elf Truck along the national road here at Purok 7, Bulanao.
Police said the
accident involved a Honda XRM 125 bearing plate number BC 19214 driven by
Alexander Buliwan Alngag II, of Employees Village, Bulanao and back rider
identified as John Michael W. Chulsi, 30 of Purok 7, Bulanao and a white Isuzu
Elf with plate number RLV875 registered under the name of Ricardo T. Balisi of
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan driven by Joan Santos De la Cruz, male, 38, and a
resident of Balzain St., Tuguegarao.
Investigation
disclosed that motorcycle came from the basketball court in Bacras, Bulanao,
and on its lane when bumped by the speeding truck heading north. As a result of the impact, the motorcycle crashed on the concrete road and was dragged
around 63 feet from impact site by the truck. Alngag sustained multiple injuries
and was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Kalinga
Provincial Hospital while Chilsi was injured on different parts of his body.
The driver of truck is now in under custody of Tabuk police substation and
court case is being prepared against him.
Farmer arrested for rape
BUGUIAS, Benguet – Police arrested about 3
p.m. Tuesday for rape a certain Gregorio Pulido Jr., 23, single, farmer, native
of Tinoc, Ifugao, and presently residing here at Barangay Catlubong.
Pulido was arrested at
his residence after the late Agapito K. LaoaganJr, presiding judge of RTC
branch 64 earlier issued warrant against him for rape with no bail recommended.
The arrested person is now under the custody of Buguias police.
Man
lands in jail over cellphone theft in SM
BAGUIO CITY – A 38-year-old man is now in
jail after allegedly stealing two cellphones here at Tubo Blend, Upper Ground
Floor, SM-Baguio, Luneta Hill, around 11 a.m. Monday.
Police identified
complainant as Cesar Pulido Liwanag, 36, businessman, here of Barangay
Bakakeng, while suspect was named as Samuel Cayabyab Osting Jr., of Dagupan
City.
Investigation
disclosed the suspect took two cellphones described as Alcatel 1041D worth
P3,000. and Samsung worth P5,000 inside the complainant’s business stall but he
was seen and immediately accosted by the father of the victim. The
cellphones were recovered from the suspect’s possession. The suspect was turned
over to responding cops and detained at the Baguio City Jail on order of Inquest Prosecutor Nimia Peralta.
Painter electrocuted in Bangued
building
BANGUED, Abra – A worker on job at the ZOE
Building here located at Partelo Street, Zone 2, was electrocutedaround 1:45
p.m. Tuesday
A police report
identified the victim as George Nelin Balneg, single, of Poblacion, Tayum town.
Abalneg was painting the wall of the building, owned by Edgar Emperia when he
accidentally hit the live wire of main electrical line with his paint brush. As
a result, the victim sustained electrical burns on his whole body and was
rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital by responding medical personnel.
12 drug houses raided;16
addicts, pushers jailed
TARLAC CITY – Tarlacpolice director Supt.
Felix Verbo Jr. led city police in
rounding up 16 suspected drug addicts and pushers in a swift raid on 12 houses
in Block 7, Barangay Sto. Cristo here last week.
Verbo identified those
arrested as Carlito Diaz Macapinlac, 52, Dennis Roque Macapinlac, 34,
WilfredoKalaw Padilla, 40, Augusto Medrano, Alejandro Limin Ong Jr., 23,
Rogelio Marshal Diaz, 39, Angelina Gongora Salvador, 29, Richard Dimaymay De
Guzman, 32, VirgilioSupan Valencia, 58, Luz Prado Valencia, 57, Ann Marie
BenosaFerrer, 23, Philipi Gongora Salvador, 24,
Peter Azures Palma, 37, Sherwin Cahusay Diano, 20, Julie BucasasDela
Cruz, 24, Christian Perez Lizardo, 20, and Kirk Jude Labial, 24, all of
Barangay Sto. Cristo.
A total of 38 sachets
of Shabu, 1 plastic sachet of Marijuana, a digital micro weighing scale and
various drug paraphernalia were seized.
Verbo said Carlito Macapinlac
was barangay tanod chief of Sto. Cristo from whom the digital micro weighing
scale was confiscated while Dennis Macapinlac is also a barangay tanod.
The raid was an
implementation of search warrant issued on the houses of Palma, Ong, De Guzman,
Diaz, Labial, Padilla, Medrano, Salvador, Sapno Dennis Macapinlac, Leo
Macapinlac and CarlitoMacapinlac were suspected peddlers of the illegal drugs
who are listed in this city’s Illegal Drugs Watchlist.
“We are giving clear
message to the drug pushers and users that they must fear the law because we
(police) are serious to put them all to jail”, said Verbo.
A couple of weeks ago,
Verbo and Tarlac Police Provincial Director PSSupt Alex Sintin led the early
morning raid in Barangay San Nicolas where 13 arrested also involvement in illegal
drugs.
Five Muslim migrants
were also rounded up in the downtown district.
According to source,
almost 90% of the 2,000 plus detainees at the Tarlac Provincial Jail are drug
related cases.
“We will not stop
until all drug pushers are put behind bars. This is the directive of (police)

2 school robbers nabbed in
Mountain Province
BAUKO, Mountain Province -- Two of four
suspects who reportedly robbed at least three different schools in this town
and nearby Tadian municipality were arrested in a manhunt operation by
provincial police. Police said Morris Javier Bandoc, 28, of Happy Hallow,
Baguio City and Monico Inumneng Hernaez, 28, of Mabalite, Tadian town, were
nabbed on suspicion of involvement in series of school robberies. These
included the 43 computer monitors, P2,800 cash, and other valuables looted from
the Abatan National High School in Bauko Nov. 28, ransacking of Masla National
High School principal’s office in Tadian last Nov. 30 and the gas tank stolen
from the Grade 1 classroom of the Cabunagan Elementary School also in Tadian
last Dec. 1.
Lady cop helps woman deliver
baby in bus
SANTIAGO, Ilocos Sur -- A policewoman has
been cited for helping a woman deliver her baby in a bus as it traversed this
town.
Police Officer 1
Flores Diga said it was her first time to handle such a situation.
Diga, a beat patroller
of the Santiago police station in Ilocos Sur, was conferred a MedalyangPapuri
for the incident that occurred on a Fariñas bus.
The driver pulled over
near the police station to ask help for Myrna Respicio, who was about to give
birth.
Diga, a former nursing
student, said she was initially nervous, noting she had no medical instruments
with her.She helped facilitate the delivery without any complication or injury
to both the mother and the child.
Respicio, who was with
her four-year-old son, said she did not expect to give birth yet. She said she
was on his way to a clinic for checkup. Diga brought Respicio and her baby to

Five arrested for
illegal drugs
URDANETA CITY– The city police’s intensified
campaign against drugs has resulted in the decrease of the cases by at least 60
percent, authorities said last week even as five alleged drug traffickers were
arrested in the province last week.
This city was
previously tagged by anti-narcotics agencies as one of the transshipment points
of illegal drugs in the province.
Supt. Jeff Fanged,
city police chief, said their campaign has prompted illegal drug traffickers to
transfer their illegal activities to other areas.
Fanged however, said
five villages remain under tight watch for illegal drugs.
On Dec. 2, members of
the city police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested
five suspected drug traffickers in Barangay Pinmaludpod and seized from them 14
plastic sachets said to contain shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Nabbed were Rey Talvo,
Armando Fernandez, Michael Servas, Rodolfo Valdez Jr. and Jannelle Montero.

officials have become more active and aggressive in clearing their areas of the

Man wanted for
carnapping in Baguio nabbed in Villasis
VILLASIS, Pangasinan -- Police of Sablan,
Benguet, Baguio and Villasis arrested about 6 p.m. Monday here along McArthur
Highwaya certain Salvador Morejes Orogo Jr., 30 for carnapping.
An arrest warrant was
earlier issued against Orogo, resident of Poblacion, Sablan by Rufus G.
Malecdan Jr., presiding judge of RTC Branch 9, La Trinidad, Benguet, who
recommended bail of P20,000.
Orogo was wanted for
allegedly carnapping a Hyundai Grace Van in Purok 27, San Carlos Heights,
Irisan, Baguio City last Dec. 2.
Laborer killed in Bontoc
animal trap
BONTOC, Mountain Province – A laborer was
killed after he was shot by a mounted
home-made shotgun in a animal trap
locally known as “balais” here at Mount Vellash, Barangay Talubin around 10:30
a,m. Monday.
Police identified the
victim as Glenn G. Ngallawen, 35, of Doddo, Talubin. Investigation revealed the
victim with his cousins went to the said place to check animal rope trap
locally known as “silo” when the incident happened.
Responding
villagers immediately brought the victim to their residence and recovered
home-made firearm measuring about 25 inches which they turned over to
responding cops.
Dr. Diga Kay Gomez,
Municipal Health Officer who examined the victim revealed that the victim’s
death was due to gunshot on his left thigh, massive blood loss and hypovolemic
shock. Further investigation revealed that the person who allegedly installed
the trap was one Eliseo Amsiwen, 38, of Barlig town and resident of Barangay Bayyo, Bontoc who
immediately fled their residence after knowing about the incident.
Security guard survives electrocution
in Baguio
BAGUIO CITY – A security guard fixing a water
hose at the roof of Good Taste Restaurant here along Rajah Matanda St. was
electrocuted Tuesday when he accidentally touched a live wire.
A police report said
the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. with the victim identified as
RuelTabaranza Napoles, 47 of Babay, Leyte.
The victim later said
at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center where he was brought for
treatment he became unconscious due to the electric shock. Police said the
incident resulted to power interruption that affected Barangay T. Alonzo, New
Lucban and some parts of Bonifacio Street.
Miner hacks fellow miner
with bolo
ITOGON, Benguet – A miner attacked another
miner with a bolo which resulted to his arrest. A police report said the
incident happened around 6:45 p.m. Monday here in Muyot, Gumatdang. The victim
was identified as VenancioCampilaAluking, 32 of Rizal, Kalinga, while the
suspect was named as Manuel CorestinoWallang, 42, Muyot resident.
Investigation
disclosed the victim was watching TV inside his shanty when the suspect who was
armed with a bolo suddenly entered through the window and hacked the victim
twice but the victim parried the attack. As a result, his hands were wounded
and he was rushed to the Baguio General Hospital for medical treatment. Police
with barangay watchers immediately pursued the suspect and brought him to the
local police office where he was jailed.

CAMP QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur — She was last seen
alive playing near their house in Sitio Rebba, Barangay Pagsanaan Norte in
Masingal town, this province, last Wednesday. But after frantic search, it took
three days before the decomposing body of seven-year-old “Micha” was found just
50 meters away from her house. Probers, who said she had been bludgeoned to
death, only have a blood-stained bamboo pole as a clue, so far, in solving the

2 teen cousins stabbed
to death
STO. DOMINGO, Ilocos Sur — Two female cousins
were stabbed to death inside their house in Sitio Bagumbayan, Barangay Paras
here night of Dec. 5. Police said there are yet no suspects in the killing of
Rowena Bugarin and her cousin, Vanessa Bugarin, both 19. Witnesses said screams
were heard from the house around 9 p.m. and a relative of the victims rushed to
the scene. But it was already too late as the two lay lifeless with multiple

BAGUIO CITY -- A foreman was arrested in his
office at Prime Peak Subdivision, Purok 8, BarangayDontogan here Dec. 5 for
allegedly raping a teacher inside the victim’s house at Purok 8, Dontogan.
Investigation revealed the suspect identified as Martin Baldemor Jr., 38, of
San Antonio, Naguilian, La Union raped the victim after the suspect’s
girlfriend left to buy food which was requested by the suspect.

Sumakey Lasbacan, 28, of Abucot, Laddet here was arrested in Poblacion night of
Dec. 5 for allegedly stabbing a high school student. Prior to his arrest, the
suspect together with his other companions attacked the victim while they were
walking home with his friends but the victim managed to flee with help of his
friends.

injured when he was stabbed Dec. 5 by a relative here during death anniversary
of a kin. The suspect was identified as Mayo AgayaoKidkid, 47, farmer,
here of Mabileg,Tabio was arrested within the day. Investigation revealed that
the suspect and the victim were having a drinking spree when misunderstanding
erupted which resulted to a heated argument prompting the victim to leave the
suspect who chased and stabbed his abdomen. The victim was rushed to the
Lepanto Hospital but later transferred to Luis Hora Hospital in Bauko, Mountain
Province for further treatment.

Theft suspect identified as Jerald
PagaspasTayan, 27, a resident of k.m. 5, La Trinidad, Benguet was sent to jail
after victimizing an intoxicated farmer napping at the jitney terminal in the
early morning of December 7, 2015. Police stated that the suspect took
advantage of the intoxicated victim lying in a chair and took his wallet but
patrolling policemen saw the suspect that led to his arrest and the recovery of
the wallet.
‘Akyat bahay’ man slain
in shootout
CAMP JULIAN OLIVAS, Pampanga — An alleged
member of the notorious “AkyatBahay Gang” of robbers operating in Nueva Ecija
was killed by police in a shootout in Barangay San Nicolas, Gapan City, Nueva
Ecija, before dawn Dec. 5. Police tried
to accost two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Barangay San Nicolas at
3:15 a.m., but one of them shot at police. When police returned fire, they shot
and killed the back-rider, Louie Garcia, of Purok Riles, Barangay San Vicente
also in Gapan City. The other suspect got away. Garcia, it turned out, is

WWII bombs found in road
construction site
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — Two World War II
vintage bombs were dug-up by the Department of Public Works and Highways at the
construction site of the farm-to-market road project in Barangay Kayhuvokan,
Basco, Batanes province on Dec. 5.
Senior Insp. RodelGervacio,
Basco town’s chief of police, measured the two recovered vintage bombs with
identical 32 inches in height and 11 inches in diameter.
The bombs were secured
in a safer ground with a “danger zone marker” while they were waiting for the
operatives from the Explosives and Ordinance Division of the Philippine Army
for proper disposition.
Gervacio advised the
residents and the workers from the DPWH to refrain from manipulating any
discovered vintage bombs at the construction site as the ammos are dangerous.
He theorized that the
vintage bombs might have been concealed underground by Japanese soldiers who
stayed in Batanes province during World War II.
It was also reported
that Japanese soldiers left a tunnel, which is now a tourist attraction in the

Tarlac police gets 17
new vehicles
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Seventeen
police vehicles were turned over to the Tarlac provincial police office at Camp
Macabulos on Wednesday.
Interior Secretary Mel
Senen Sarmiento and Philippine National Police logistics head Director Juanito Vaño
Jr. delivered the vehicles, said Chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin, Police Regional
Office 3 director.
“The distribution of
patrol jeeps speaks well of the goal of the DILG (Department of the Interior
and Local Government) and PNP to increase its capability in running after
criminals ...and assisting our people in disaster response operations,” PNP
spokesman Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said.
