LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - - The
establishment of a satellite office of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes
Office (PCSO) in the province is being
sought to hasten processing of request and
claims of patients seeking financial and medical assistance.
The
Provincial Board passed a measure proposing establishment of a PCSO office in
the province including an ambulance for transporting patients.
PCSO has its
main office in Mandaluyong City in Metro Manila that potential beneficiaries
and recipients raised concern in the distance they have to travel as personal
appearance is required although in rare cases representation is allowed.
If an office
would be established in the area, it would lessen risks and be more convenient
for patients with unstable condition as well as lessen expenses on their part
as premised in the proposed measure.
PCSO is
extending assistance for request of medicines, laboratory or diagnostic
procedures, payment for hospitalization, hearing aid, implants or prosthetic
devices or wheelchairs, dialysis, cancer treatment.
As per
guidelines, anybody can get help from PCSO regardless of social status but
priority is given to the indigents.
The
resolution if finally approved will be forwarded to PCSO Chairman Erineo “Ayong
“Maliksi for his favorable action. --
