BAGUIO
CITY -- Delegates from the Pines City National High School who represented
Baguio and the Cordillera Administrative Region at the National Secondary Press
Conference held in the City of Koronadal emerged as victors on TV scripting and
broadcasting skills exhibition. A text message received by this writer from
Emilia M. Guinumtad, the group’s adviser revealed the Cordillera delegate
placed second in best newscast, first in infomercial and third in technical
application.
The best TV anchor was awarded to Moises
Soriano and second Best TV Anchor went to Kimberly Cawis of same Baguio group.
According to Guinumtad, they almost failed to
attend the competition because they did not have enough money to pay for their
plane tickets adding help and support from friends in Baguio media community
inspired them to move on.
Baguio delegates also competed in the past
two national events under the same category according to Guinumtad but they
failed to bring home any recognition due to some technical glitches especially
on control of broadcast equipment. This time, the Cordillera group had prior
mock broadcasting sessions at the Baguio Media Newseum where they were able to
familiarize themselves with audio and video controls and other television gears
used in broadcasting.
