LUBAO, Pampanga
– At least seven persons were reported dead after a truck hit a row of
vehicles at an intersection of the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo highway in
this province last week.
The provincial police
said the truck developed engine trouble causing its driver Cesar Sabanate, 29,
to lose control of the wheel.
The truck hit 11
vehicles, mostly cars and jeepneys that were waiting for the traffic lights to
change to green.
One of the fatalities
was identified as Micaela Jimenez, 16, who died while being rushed to the St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Barangay Remedios in this town.
The incident snarled
traffic in the area, which was said to be prone to accident.
The municipal
government had installed traffic lights in the area to prevent accidents.
