in Baguio drug-related deaths

shabu session led to the death of a woman when she was shot
Here Monday around 2:30
a.m. Monday along Marcos Highway, Sitio Bawek, Taloy Sur.
Chief Insp. Jim
Hilario, Tuba police chief, identified the fatality as Kyla Quinto, 17, of
Baguio City.
A police report said
Qunito and a certain Ariel Ander Oligario, 27, porter, of Dagupan City and resident
of Hangar Market, Baguio with suspects identified as “Michael”, of New Lucban,
a certain “Sibon,” of Pacdal both in
Baguio and another male person had a shabu session at Town House in Pacdal.
At about 2 a.m., all
boarded a taxi driven by a man they didn’t know and decided to travel to La
Union.
When they reached
Marcos Highway at Bawek, the driver stopped at the side of the road.
One of the suspects
stepped out and grabbed Quinto then shot her at the back using a handgun.
Oligario went out of
the taxi but a man holding a gun shot him hitting his right leg and right hand.
Oligario hid near a bus stop and sought assistance from a UV Express vehicle
that brought him to Baguio General Hospital.
Responding police and
Benguet Provincial Crime Lab personnel found the lifeless body of Quinto, who
had a gunshot on her back that exited on her left breast.
Recovered at the crime
scene were three spent shells for Cal. 9mm pistol and four bullets.
Police said Quinto
surrendered under Oplan Tokhang recently.
30 dead in Baguio City
In Baguio City, a total
of 30 individuals reportedly died due to legitimate police operations the past
five months and suspected rubout by drug personalities wanting to dominate the
lucrative drug trade by eliminating those who want to report their illegal
activities to law enforcers.
Of the said number of
deaths, 26 deaths were under investigation while four alleged drug pushers were
killed due to legitimate police operations.
Further, 24 of those
who died out of 26 deaths under investigation were drug pushers while two were
drug users.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan
bared this saying of 1,513 drug surrenderees from the city’s 128 barangays over
the past five months, 148 were drug pushers while the remaining 1,365
individuals are drug users.
Of 184 arrested
individuals, he reported that 162 are pushers while 22 were drug users.
Domogan said he is
open to receiving confidential information even from anonymous texters or
callers because information brought to him for immediate action turned out to
be positive and drug pushers and users were subsequently neutralized.
Cagayan
In Cagayan, sales
agent Paul Sonido, 35, was gunned down by motorcycle-riding men while fueling
up at a gasoline station in Barangay Pengue in Tuguegarao City.
Chief Inspector Ramon
Macarubbo, Alcala police chief, said Sonido was on their drug watchlist and
surrendered on July 14.
Isabela
In Isabela, mobile
phone technician Ismael Amin Maistegi, 35, was wounded in a gun attack by
suspected vigilantes in Purok 7, Bliss Village in Ilagan City.
Police said the victim
is ranked second on the watchlist of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in
Cagayan Valley.
Ilocos Sur
In Ilocos Sur, an
unidentified assailant shot dead Judy Tapat, 47, and dumped his body in a grassy
lot in Barangay Guimod Norte in San Juan town.
Police said Tapat
earlier surrendered to police officers during the conduct of Oplan Tokhang in
Cabugao town.
Bulacan
On Tuesday, former San
Miguel, Bulacan police officer Marjo Sidayen, 41; Michael Taradel and John
Albert Aporedo shot it out with police operatives who responded to reports of a
pot session in Barangay Tigoalas, said Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, Bulacan
police acting director.
Three caliber .38
revolvers, a 9mm pistol as well as ammunition, several sachets of shabu and
drug paraphernalia were recovered at the scene.
An alias Jao of
Barangay Cambaog in Bustos town allegedly traded shots with policemen during a
sting also on Tuesday.
Crisencio Montaril,
36, of Barangay Sampaloc in San Rafael was having a drinking spree at his house
when two unidentified men entered and fired at him.
Two bullet shells for
a caliber .45 pistol were recovered at the scene. A piece of cardboard
identifying the fatality as a robber and pusher were found near his body.
Two persons identified
as Raymund Saddi and Mario Robles, both of Bulacan were killed Dec. 3
Saddi was shot dead by
an unidentified assailant as he was playing billiards in Barangay Sta. Rosa,
Marilao town.
The assailant left a
placard near Saddi’s body before fleeing.
The placard was
marked, in Filipino, “I warned you not to leave the house. Now you’re dead.
Don’t emulate, pusher/addict.”
Meanwhile, Robles was
killed after he allegedly resisted arrest following a sting in Barangay Iba in
Hagonoy town.
Police allegedly
recovered from Robles an improvised gun, a plastic sachet said to contain shabu
and marked money.
Another suspected drug
pusher was killed in Bulacan on Monday. Donmer de Jesus resisted arrest and
shot it out with policemen during a sting, said Senior Superintendent Romeo
Caramat, Bulacan police acting director.
De Jesus was
pronounced dead on arrival at the Malolos Provincial Hospital. He reportedly
yielded a caliber .38 revolver.
Caramat said the
fatality was the top drug personality in Bulakan town.
