Jeep falls down Itogon, Benguet ravine; 14 hurt


ITOGON, Benguet – Fourteen passengers were injured when the public utility jeep they were riding in fell down a 25-meter deep ravine here Tuesday, Police said the incident happened around 3:20 p.m. along the municipal road here in Midas, Ucab involving a green Armak passenger jitney (Palawan-Alilem-Sudipen route) with plate number AVV 261 driven by Willy Tainan Mabitasan, with 28 passengers, all residents of Sitio Piging and Baayan, Ucab.
Investigation disclosed the passengers just came from a burial in Batuang, Virac, and while they were going towards Baguio City, the vehicle encountered loose brake and went backwards until it fell the deep ravine.
Rescue teams from Itogon and Baguio brought all victims to different hospitals in Baguio for treatment.  
Victims were identified as: Loreto Liwan Soriano, 57; Danny Pacio Malasmas Sr., 50; Melody Pacio Pangaton, 30; Jamieke Taynan Mabitasan, 4; Ivan Dapnisan Malasmas, 15; Nathalie Pacio Pangaton, 22; Jackielyn Pangaton Mabitasan, 35; Eriña Dimino Palista, 61; Ernesto Tonggalong  Waclin, 64; Jeanjie Malasmas Sagobo; Lemuel Lubata Palista, 13; James Palista Dapnisan, 42; Arsenio Malasmas Dapnisan, 36 and Sam Coldeg Sagobo, 50..

All other victims were discharged after treatment.
