30 New People’s Army guerillas surrender

GAMU, Isabela -- Around 30 communist terrorists mostly from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had already surrendered to the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, according to reports here in Camp Melchor F. dela Cruz.
Maj. Gen. Paul Talay Atal, DPA AFP, commander of 5ID, reported that another female communist amazon voluntarily surrendered to LTC Gulliver Siñeres, commanding officer of the 50th Infantry Battalion at their headquarters in Barangay Camalog, Pinukpuk, Kalinga around 12 p.m. on May 21.
He noted the influx of surrendered rebels from the communist group is a clear manifestation of their message on peace.
He said “some communists want peace which is already penetrating the core of their belief and doctrine that is misleading some of the Filipinos living in the hinterlands of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera.”
The said surrendered rebel is still at 50IB headquarters for documentation purposes. -- Liezle Basa-Iñigo
