BAGUIO CITY – The city
government has launched the 7th edition of the “Beautiful Baguio” photography contest
to herald preparations for the 108th Baguio City Charter Day celebration on
Sept. 1.
Now on its
seventh year, the contest aims to showcase “the natural and cultural beauty of
Baguio City.”
Councilor
Elmer Datuin who spearheads the Baguio Day preparation of activities with city
administrator Carlos Canilao said this year the photo contest will focus on
sceneries to highlight the city’s eye-catching landscapes and vistas.
The contest
will be open to all photography enthusiasts whether beginners, hobbyists or
professionals and no registration fee will be required.
There will
be two categories – the conventional where any type of cameras can be utilized
and the mobile phone categories.
Entries
must depict positive images and must have the following descriptions and
information: full color, 8”x10” full-color print on photographic paper,
original resolution digital copy on CD or DVD, title, full name, phone number
and email address of the owner.
Global
adjustments will be allowed as long as there are no composites or similar
digital manipulations of the photographs.
Participants
may enter both categories and may submit a maximum of three entries per
category.
Deadline of
submission will be on August 20 at the Office of Councilor Datuin.
The entries
will be displayed at the City hall lobby on Aug. 29.
A total of
P50,000 in cash prizes is at stake for the top three winners in both
categories.
The annual
contest is a regular feature in the Baguio Day calendar of activities sponsored
by the city government in cooperation with the Baguio Photographers Club headed
by Ren Munoz. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
