2-year-old stabbed by uncle confined
BAGUIO CITY – A
2-year-old male child cheated death after he was stabbed by his jobless uncle
11;45 a.m. at their residence here along Camia Street, Purok 7 Sunnyside
Fairview. Police identified the suspect as Angelito Bagnas Esperanza, 22,
tenant of the house.
Investigation
disclosed that the suspect was searching for coffee inside their rented room
when he suddenly grabbed a kitchen knife then stabbed the back of the victim
who was standing at their door.
The victim
was rushed by his father to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for
treatment with concerned citizen where he was confined.
Police
arrested the suspect with the aid of concerned residents. Duty inquest
prosecutor Christian Amistad ordered Esperanza incarcerated at the city jail.
Truck falls down Kabayan cliff
KABAYAN, Benguet – A
mixer truck fell down a 35-meter ravine here at Sitio Nabkasan, Barangay Ballay
June 24 around 4 p.m. The truck with plate number ACN 5043, registered to
Murami Subic Trading Corp, was driven by Nestor Hittan Jr., 32, of Ubao,
Aguinaldo Ifugao. Its passenger was identified as Alipio Paterno, 26, of
Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Police
investigation disclosed the truck landed on a garden. The driver and passenger
were not injured. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Cops knew
about the accident after the Kabayan municipal mayor sent a text message to
town police station informing them about the accident.
Iranian flees after hitting man, warden’s Fortuner
BAGUIO CITY – An
Iranian/Australian national was arrested after fleeing a man he injured when he
hit his motorcycle here around 9:20 p.m. on June 25 along Marcos Highway near
Bengao junction. The foreigner was identified as Pedram Restami, 27, student,
and resident of Xavier Hills, Gilmore, Quezon City. He was driving a
Hyundai Accent sedan bearing license plate number AFB-646 which
collided with a motorcycle driven by Rony Mendez Tacio Dulawan, 26,
electrical engineer, Bengao resident.
Investigation
disclosed that the motorcycle stopped to give way to a passing
vehicle when Restami’ car coming from lowlands invaded the
opposite lane and collided to the motorcycle. The impact made the
motorcycle to be pushed forward making it hit a Toyota Fortuner
wagon with license plate number AJA-1104 driven by Kenneth Agnawa
Bid-ing, 40, jail warden, and resident here of Purok 8, Upper
Pinget
After the
impact, Restami maneuvered and immediately fled towards the city proper.
However, he was intercepted by personnel of Station 5 police. All involved
vehicles incurred damages while Dulawan was brought to Baguio General Hospital
and Medical Center for treatment.
Responding
traffic investigators confiscated license plates, licenses of drivers of
involved vehicles and issued citation tickets.
2 Tarlac town workers arrested for shabu
CONCEPTION, Tarlac --
Two municipal employees were arrested here Tuesday by the local police led by
Supt Luis Ventura Jr.
In his
report Tarlac police provincial director Senior Supt. Ritchie Posadas, Ventura
identified the suspects nabbed in separate buy bust operations as Abel Datu,
50, of Barangay San Nicolas Poblacion, and Armando Pamintuan, 51, of Barangay
Green Village who was entrapped along with his wife 40-year old Mary Ann Pamintuan
in their barangay.
Datu is a
street sweeper while Pamintuan works as utility personnel.
Last month,
Ventura led his men in separately entrapping two barangay kagawads who were Barangay Kagawad
Daniel Quilala of Barangay Alfonso and Barangay Kagawad Noel Sanches of
Barangay Sta. Rita.
Four
sachets of shabu were confiscated from Datu, while Pamintuan yielded two
sachets and Mary Ann had three plastic sachets.
Datu and
the spouses Pamintuan all tested positive of methamphetamine

Man injured in Abra ambush
LAGAYAN, Abra – A
passenger was injured when armed men fired at the truck he was riding in with
three others including the driver. A police report said town councilor Noel
Cortez called them saying a shooting incident transpired here at Sitio
Kulibangbang, Poblacion around midday wherein victims were identified as
Patrick D. Aquino, 17; Brix A. Donato, 16; Marlito S. Malayan, 22 and Ponciano
Isao, 23.
Suspects
were named as Benjie Vista, Edgar T. Salingbay and one unidentified person.
Investigation
disclosed victims while transporting stones aboard the truck and were bound to
Barangay Pulot when the wh
en the
armed suspects with their face covered with handkerchief suddenly appeared
beside the road and fired multiple gunshots on them. Donato, driver of the dump
truck sped their vehicle while the assailants fired multiple gunshots. As a
result, Aquino was hit on his left thigh. Responding cops brought Aquino to
Abra Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Gonzaga councilman shot dead in front of son
GONZAGA, Cagayan --
Authorities have yet to determine the motive for the killing of a village
councilman here who was shot dead in front of his son in this town night of
June 24.
Efren Sola,
43, and his son were watching television at their home in Barangay Caroan when
the assailant barged in and shot him several times. He died while being taken
to a hospital.
The
assailant, who did not harm Sola’s son, escapep on a motorcycle driven by
another man.
The
motorcycle reportedly figured in an accident in the nearby Sta. Teresita town.
The driver
abandoned the assailant, who was arrested by pursuing police officers.
Sola was
not in the drug list, according to Chief Insp. Edgar Manuel, chief of Gonzaga

Apayao laborer hangs self
PUDTOL, Apayao – A laborer was found dead hanging in an elementary
school classroom here in Barangay Cacalaggan around 7 a.m. Monday. Police named
the victim as Raffy Ranchez Bangalan, 35, of Bagu, Pamplona, Cagayan.
Investigation disclosed a certain Manases Rasay Iddig happened to
pass by at the place and discovered the incident. He immediately informed
engineer Ariel Tenorio, employer of the victim who reported the incident to
police.
A police report said the victim hanged himself using a nylon rope
tied in a rafter of the classroom. Based on the post mortem examination
conducted by Dr. Amelia M. Abulencia, Municipal Health Officer of Pudtol
Municipality, the cause of death was due to asphyxia secondary to
strangulation. Police ruled Bangalan’s death a case of suicide.
Investigation bared on June 24, around 11 a.m., the victim also
attempted to hang himself at a building
of Cacalagan Elementary School undergoing construction but was he was pacified
by Fenlie Domingo Antonio, his co-worker.
Laborer jailed for mauling bar cashier; threatening to kill her
BAGUIO CITY – A construction worker was jailed here Monday for
maltreating a bar cashier and threatening to kill her. The incident happened
10:40 p.m. inside Wisky 3 Videoke Bar and Billiard Hall at Maharlika Building Upper Magsaysay, based on
complaint of Annalita Aba-a Ocampo, 41, against the suspect identified as
Rodel Atma Malid-eng, 25, Outlook Drive. Investigation disclosed the complainant cautioned the suspect from
spitting at the floor inside the said establishment, but suspect stood up
and went near her and attempted to hit her with his fist.
The complainant then took the stick mat handle to protect
herself, but suspect grabbed the stick and used it to hit her forehead.
Complainant picked up a kitchen
knife to defend herself as the suspect pursued to hit her but suspect’s
companion pacified them. While the complainant was being held,
Malid-eng sat on a table near the counter and threatened to kill her. When
complainant answered back, the suspect kicked the complainant on
her abdomen causing her head to hit the floor. Case was referred to City
Prosecutor Ruth Bernabe and directed the detention of the suspect at the Baguio
City Jail.
Mom leaves child in park; found drowned later
LA PAZ, Abra – A special child was left by her mother in a park here
Monday and when she returned, the child was missing. She found out later the
child drowned in a nearby river in Barangay Bulbulala. Investigation disclosed
around 3 p.m. that day, Lalaine Blanza and her son, Lance Albert, 8, went to
the Children’s Park. After a few minutes of playing, the mother went to the
store and left her child unattended. When she returned, her child was already
missing. She asked other children who were playing there. They told her her son
ran towards the river. She tried to locate her child but failed to see him. An
hour later, a certain Maggie Figares found the victim lifeless lying at the
river bank. The family of the victim refused an autopsy, saying they believed
that there was no foul play.
Woman files maltreatment case against husband
CONNER, Apayao – A woman filed a case for violation of Republic Ac
9262 (violence against women and children) here husband Tuesday for repeatedly
maltreating her and which resulted to miscarriage of their first baby. The
victim was identified as Annalyn Bakidan Baggas, 32, while her husband was
named as Eric Baluyan Baggas, 27, both residents of Barangay Sacpil.
Investigation disclosed since October 2007, both lived as husband and
wife in a house built by the parents of the victim. After few months, her
husband usually came home late at night drunk and always argued and maltreated
her even when she was pregnant with their second and third children. The
suspect did not provide financial assistance to his family and continuously
hurt her in front of their young children that caused them trauma.
The suspect later left their home and did not return. The
victim decided to file a complaint for the abuses inflicted by her husband.
Farmer intercepted for illegal gun
TAB UK CITY, Kalinga – A farmer was arrested here June 25 in a
checkpoint here at Barangay Calanan for having in his possession an illegal
gun. Nabbed was Raymond Dangiwan, 25, of Asibanglan, Pinukpuk town. He was
aboard a motorcycle after he failed to present documents for his Cal. 9 mm
handgun loaded with 13 bullets.
Farmer nabbed for illegal gun in Abra
LA PAZ, Abra – A drunk farmer identified as Sandy Balmaceda Tan, 42,
of Barangay Bulbulala, was arrested in his shanty night of June 23 having
in his possession as shotgun without ammunition.
Porter stabs bartender near Burnham Children’s Park
BAGUIO CITY – A porter was arrested for stabbing a bartender here
Monday around 10 p.m. along the sidewalk of Children’s Park, Kisad Road,
fronting Ina Mansion. The victim was named as Van Philip Catacutan Baylon,
20, bartender at Spoon and Stone, while the arrested suspect was named as
Clever Vinci Alisto Suniedca, 17, resident of Upper Cadmaan, Tuba, Benguet.
Investigation disclosed the victim was walking with his girlfriend
Daisy Salvador when they met the suspect together with a male companion. The
victim sat on the flower box with his girlfriend. The suspect and his companion
approached them and asked for help as they were drunk, but his girlfriend stood
and crossed the road leaving the victim. Suspect suddenly brought out a knife
and demanded the victim to bring out his cell phone. The victim told the
suspect that the cell phone was with his girlfriend but the suspect stabbed him
once on his back. Victim was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment and was
later admitted. Weapon used was recovered.
Construction worker mauls another
PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A teacher identified as Lillian Tongngao Dayagan,
39, filed a complaint with police that a construction worker mauled her
husband. Ms Dagayan said her husband,
Ben, 40 , also a construction worker was mauled by Mark Miller Baggay Dayagan,
19, of Tuga, Tabuk
City.
Investigation disclosed that Ms Dayagan was fetched by her
husband from Pakawit Elementary School. Upon arriving home, she requested her
husband to buy some groceries. She saw the suspect suddenly appeared and
grabbed her husband and boxed him several times on his head using a brass
knuckle. The suspect fled to unknown direction after the incident. The victim
was brought to Pinukpuk District Hospital for treatment.
2 hurt in Ifugao vehicle accident
LAMUT, Ifugao – A motorcycle driven by a drunk driver hit a Toyota
Fortuner vehicle here around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday along the national highway at
Barangay Danghai resulting to injury of the former and his passenger.
The motorcycle was driven by Ricardo Dulnuan Maugao Jr., 29, gardener
while the Toyota Fortuner was owned by Camilo Agbanlog Pimentel, 58.
Investigation disclosed the Fortuner was headed to Lagawe,
Ifugao from Solano, Nueva, Vizcaya when upon reaching the ascending curved road
at Danghai, the speeding motorcycle allegedly encroached the other lane and
collided with the Fortuner.
As a result, Maugao was injured along with his back rider identified
as Joel Monguiho, 45. Both vehicles were damaged. The injured were brought to Panopdopan
District Hospital by responding cops for treatment.
Tuba truck driver nabbed for estafa
TUBA, Benguet – Police
arrested June 25 a truck driver identified as Jick Duyot, 43, at his
residence here in Barangay Nangalisan. This after Emmanuel Cacho
Rasing, presiding judge of Regional
Trial Court Branch 3, Baguio City issued warrant against him for estafa
setting bail of P50,000 for his temporary liberty.
Nine men maul Lagawe truck rider
LAGAWE, Ifugao – Nine
still unidentified men mauled a man here Monday around 8 p.m. along the road at
Sitio Tandi, Barangay Cudog. Victim Joseph Dulnuan Bolla, 57, filed a complaint
at the police station. Investigation disclosed
the victim together with one companion on board an elf truck were
traversing the road when they met the suspects on board a tricycle who did not
yield but accident was avoided. Suspects shouted at the victim and mauled him.
One of the suspects took a stone and struck Bolla’s face who was immediately
brought to IGH Clinic in the town for treatment. Suspects fled after the
incident.
Man hits, curses wife over motorcycle key
LUNA, Apayao – A man
hit his wife here Monday for looking for a motorcycle key which he asked for.
Dezie Flor Bayani Natabio, 34, filed a complaint against her husband Arnel, 35
saying he incident happened at their house in Barangay Quirino. Police
investigation disclosed while the victim was cooking at their kitchen, the
suspect approached her and asked for the motorcycle key. She told him to wait
so she will look for the key. But instead, her husband suddenly hit the face of
the victim and uttered unsavory words. The victim sustained contusion on her
lower left eye and abrasions on her left hand. Police brought the victim and
the suspect to Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center for medical
and physical examination and documentation.
Man nabbed for rape
BAGUIO CITY – City and
Paracelis, Mountain Province police nabbed a man wanted for rape here at
Barangay Irisan Monday. Arrested was Eugenio Estigoy of Paracelis after
judge Joseph Patna-an, RTC, Bontoc, Mountain Province issued warrant against
him with no bail recommended.
Man jailed for violence
PARACELIS, Mountain
Province – Police jailed a man here Monday for violation of Presidential Decree
1612 (violation against women and children). Arrested was Harry Estigoy
Guinawang of Sitio Laud, Barangay Butigue, after judge Sergio Angnganay of RTC
Branch 63, Bontoc, Mt Province issued arrest warrant against him setting bail
of P50,000 for his temporary liberty.
Cop, passenger hurt in Ifugao road crash
LAGAWE, Ifugao – A cop
and his passenger were injured when their car collided with two vehicles here
Monday around 8:20 p.m. along Banao, Poblacion South. The blue Toyota Corolla
with plate number UMY-523 was driven by PO2 Dan Tayaban Mariano, assigned at
Ifugao police public security company when it overtook an Isuzu elf dump truck
loaded with cement driven by Isaac Katado Belingon, 46.
Investigation
disclosed both vehicles were coming from the same direction when Mariano
overtook without noticing a parked Toyota Hi-lux and tricycle along the road
and eventually collided with the said parked vehicles, and also bumped the
driver side front wheel of the elf truck.
As a
result, Mariano and his passenger named as John Orpilla were injured and
immediately brought by the responding Lagawe cops to IGH Clinic here for
treatment.
Drunk man drowns in San Fabian
SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan
-- Roger Dacumos was found floating in Cayanga River here Tuesday. Prior to the
incident, the victim reportedly had a drinking spree with his classmates.
Woman, 70, kills sister, 60 in Abra
PIDIGAN, Abra -- A
woman was allegedly hacked to death by her sister at their house here in
Barangay Alinaya, Pidigan Monday.
Responding
policemen found the body of Rosita Bandiez, 60, at the dining room at around
1:20 a.m.
Initial
investigation showed Gertrudiz Elpa, 70, hacked her sister using a bolo for no
apparent reason while they were watching television with the victim’s
12-year-old adopted daughter.
Elpa was
jailed at the local police station.
Drug suspect killed in shootout with cops
GUIGUINTO, Bulacan – A
certain “Jeric,” was killed in a pursuit operation here before dawn June 25.
Probers
said Jeric and his unidentified companion reportedly tried to escape in a
motorcycle after sensing that they were dealing with undercover agents in
Barangay Sta. Cruz at around 1:30 a.m.
The
suspects reportedly shot at the pursuing officers, triggering a shootout that
resulted in Jeric’s death, according to Bulacan police acting director Senior
Supt. Romeo Caramat.
Jeric’s companion was
able to escape.
Probers
said they seized from Jeric a .38 caliber pistol, 16 plastic sachets said to
contain shabu and dried marijuana leaves, and drug paraphernalia.
Drug suspect slain in Isabela buy-bust
ILAGAN CITY, Isabela –
A certain Jaypee dela Cruz was killed by cops after he allegedly pulled out a
pistol after sensing that he was dealing with undercover agents in Ilagan City
night of June 24
Dela Cruz
reportedly surrendered to authorities who conducted Oplan Tokhang in his
hometown Tuguegarao in Cagayan last year, according to Ilagan City police
chief Supt. Ariel Quilang.
Probers
said they recovered from the slain suspect two plastic sachets said to contain
shabu.
Man with drug cases shot in shootout
BAGABAG, Nueva Vizcaya
– A drug suspect named as Jayson Mallari of Caloocan City was killed in an
alleged shootout with police officers here June 24. Aside from drugs, Mallari
had pending cases for carnapping and robbery, according to Chief Insp. Jennifer Flores, chief of the Bagabag police.
Investigators
said they recovered from Mallari a .38 caliber pistol and a plastic sachet said
to contain shabu.
Man killed in
Bulacan shootout
GUIGUNTO, Bulacan – A
man was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers here on June 16. The
motorcycle-riding suspect reportedly tried to avoid a checkpoint in Barangay
Sta. Cruz, prompting police officers to pursue him.
A firefight
ensued, which resulted in the death of the still unidentified suspect. Police
recovered several plastic sachets said to contain shabu, a .22 caliber pistol

Drug suspect slain in Gapan for resisting arrest
GAPAN CITY, Nueva
Ecija -- Joel Pabustan was recently killed after he reportedly tried to resist
arrest following a sting here, according to Central Luzon police director
Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino.

other drug suspects including a village councilman were arrested in separate
anti-drug operations conducted in several cities and towns in Bulacan, Aquino

Man stabbed for slapping another
BAGUIO CITY – A man
was stabbed here June 18 around 5:50 p.m. in Barangay Gabriela Silang for
allegedly slapping the suspect. The victim was identified as Christopher
Maquinto, 40, while the suspect was identified as Alexander Maligcong Buenafe,
29.
Both had a
fight on night of June 17, wherein the Maquinto slapped the face of Buenafe.
After the fight, the suspect threatened the victim that he will get revenge and
will stab him. The following day, Buenafe approached the victim and without any
words, stabbed Maguinto three times with a knife. The victim was brought to the
Baguio General Hospital, Emergency Room for treatment while Buenafe was brought
o the city police station.
Brothers get drunk; injured in fight
HINGYON, Ifugao – Two
brothers were seriously injured when they had a fight after drinking liquor
here June 18 in Sitio Ihogwab, Cababuyan North. The brothers were identified as
Rommel Nadyahan Ullani, 30, miner and Edwin, 37, farmer. Investigation
disclosed Rommel visited Edwin at his house and misunderstanding ensued between
them. Edwin got mad and boxed the shoulder of Rommel. The latter got angry and
rumbled with his brother until Edwin got a bolo and tried to hack his brother.
Rommel parried the attack using his palm then struggled with Edwin but the tip
of the bolo hit the right face of his brother. Rommel sustained laceration on
his right palm while Edwin sustained wound on his right cheek. They were
brought to Veterans Regional Hospital, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya for medical
treatment.
Laborer nabbed for raping minor with hydrocephalus
BAGUIO CITY – A
laborer was arrested here last week for allegedly raping a minor suffering from
hydrocephalus at a house along Bernadette St. Dominican Hill. Glecerio Delos
Reyes Nipay, 32 filed in behalf of his daughter a case for rape against Joven
Apigo Pantaleon, 27, resident of No. 064, Puguis, La Trinidad Benguet.
Investigation
disclosed that the suspect, an acquaintance of the victim’s father was
discovered by the latter inside their bedroom where the minor was sleeping.
Nipay caught Pantaleon covering the victim with a blanket upon sensing his
presence. Jojo’s strange actions made the complainant suspect that he was doing
a wicked act so Nipay removed the blanket of his daughter and found her naked
on her lower body. He noticed Jojo’s pants were unbuttoned and the zipper of
his lower garment was lowered down. The victim and suspect were brought to the
Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for medico legal examination.
Snatchers stab young lady on Baguio street
BAGUIO CITY – A
27-year-old woman was stabbed while walking here along Pinpin Street, Barangay
Palma Urbano around 2:20 a.m. The victim was identified as Cristy De
Ala Brillantes, while one of the suspects was identified as Mike Fernandez
Boado, dish washer of Sizzling World along Naguilian Road.
Investigation
disclosed the victim was on her way home, when unidentified male persons came
from behind pointed a knife at her and tried to force her to give her cell
phone and bag but she resisted. Her bag was grabbed by one of the suspects
after which Boado, who was holding a knife suddenly stabbed her on her
back and neck. The victim was immediately brought by a witness identified as
Manuel Kudan Gorion, 50, taxi operator to Baguio General Hospital and Medical
Center for treatment.
Responding
police arrested the suspect who confessed names of his companions as a certain
Simon and aka Tinapay.
Man dead after motorcycle hits tree
TABUK CITY – A man was
found dead here June 18 around 6:10 a.m. along the Tabuk-Paracelis national
road in Magbbangon, Cudal, Tabuk, around 200 meters away from the Magabbangon
Elementary School.
A concerned
citizen reported the incident to Barangay Bulanao police station. Cops found a
yellow Honda XRM motorcycle bearing plate number BO 9487 and its lifeless
driver beneath a big Gmelina tree. Police said the man died around three hours
earlier. Blood partially covered his swollen head and face. Investigation
disclosed the motorcycle skidded around 12 meters then slammed on the trunk of
the tree.
The victim was identified through
his driver’s license as Modesto Sesenando Baguiwan, 35 of Pagogo, Dupligan,
Tanudan town, The motorcycle and personal belongings of the victim were turned
over to his relatives while the cadaver was brought to Carbonel Funeral Home.
11 arrested in drug stings
Jhomel Abut, 39, alias
Kirat, and Philip Ramones, 43, councilmen of Barangay Dacal in Sanchez Mira,
Cagayan, and Ambabaay, Bani, Pangasinan, were among at least 11 persons
arrested as the government continued its war against illegal drugs on
Wednesday.
Abut
reportedly sold two sachets of shabu worth P1,500 to an undercover agent while
a big pack and 35 sachets of shabu were allegedly recovered from Ambabaay.
The most
wanted drug personality in Jones, Isabela, Marvin Antolin, 31, was collared in
Barangay 1. A cell phone containing alleged drug deals were recovered from the
suspect, police said.
