CCTVs mandatory for Baguio businesses

BAGUIO CITY – The city council will pass an ordinance making it mandatory for establishments in the city to install closed circuit television (CCTV) for security purposes.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan said CCTVs have been proven to be an effective deterrent to crime and a great help to police in identifying perpetrators.
Domogan pointed out that although many establishments in the central business district (CBD) already have security cameras, those outside the CBD still have to install them.
Several of the city’s overpasses also have CCTVs but more are needed in strategic areas.
He said that security guards in business establishments should continue to coordinate with and assist the police.
The mayor stressed that maintaining the city’s peace and order situation and the security of its residents and visitors remain to be top priorities of the local government.
