TABUK CITY, Kalinga --
Ensuring rice buffer for the province during the typhoon months, the National
Food Authority (NFA) provincial station reserved some 800 bags rice under its
Calamity Reserve Program.
Provincial
Manager Mariano Ibarra informed this is part of the 1,800 bags initial delivery
to the province from the country’s first shipment of imported rice this year.
On top of its
mandate to assure supply of cheap and accessible rice, NFA has entered into a
memorandum of agreement with local government units for rice supply in times
of calamities, he said.
Normal
operation or distribution of rice to bigasan outlets will be back upon arrival
of the 4,200 bags additional buffer for the province which expected to be
delivered as soon as weather improves, Ibarra said. -- PIA CAR
