SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A former city government employee tagged in a rape case was arrested Wednesday, after 14 years in hiding.
Supt. John Guiagui, city
police chief, identified the suspect as Frederick Ordoño Balanon, 43,
considered the city’s second most wanted fugitive.
The arrest
was coordinated with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the
Soccsksargen region.
Balanon ,a former City
Engineering Office employee from 1999 to 2003 and a resident of Barangay
Sevilla and Cabarsican, here, went into hiding in Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani
since 2004.
Guiagui said
Balanon was nabbed when the Sultan Kudarat police informed them that he was a
spotted in Purok 5, Barangay Old Poblacion, Maitum, Sarangani Province.
He was taken
into custody by the Maitum police through a standing warrant of arrest which
was issued on August 27, 2013 in San Fernando City. -- Erwin Beleo
