2 dead in Claveria, 3 hurt in Barlig road accidents


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — Two persons died while three others, including a police officer, were seriously injured when two pickups collided in Barangay Taggat Sur, Claveria, Cagayan after midnight Tuesday.
Police said Ramon Basilio, 44, who was driving an Isuzu D-Max and one of his passengers, Joselito Unida, 24, were declared dead on arrival at the Northern Cagayan District Hospital.
M/Sgt. Joemel Alejandro, 43, who was driving another Isuzu D-Max, and his companion Jessa Pasion as well as Basilio’s other passenger Marvin Andrade, 30, remain confined in the same hospital.
Initial investigation showed the accident occurred when Basilio encroached on the opposite lane.
In Mountain Province, Sagada Fire Officer 1 Julio Bilog Jr., 31, his wife Verlee Mae Longan Bilog, 27, their two-month-old daughter Julia Eveleigh and Leoncio Longan, 24, were injured when their Isuzu Trooper fell with plate number REX 317 into a ravine 40 meters deep in Sitio Tapaw, Chupac, Barlig on August 18. 
Investigation disclosed the victims were on their way to Natonin town when the accident happened.
All the victims were brought to the Barlig District Hospital for medical attention but Julia Eveleigh Bilog was later transferred to Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital in Bauko town for further treatment.
