American jumps from Laoag bridge after wife divorce

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte -- An American citizen who was recently divorced died when he jumped off the bridge here along Bypass Road Wednesday.

Ilocos Norte Police said Christopher Sagisi Cabuga, 37, a resident of San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, and from Chicago, Illinois, USA, was riding an Isuzu Sportivo driven by his brother, Reymart, 28.

                As the vehicle was passing the bridge, Sagisi suddenly opened the door and jumped off the bridge, police said.

He was taken to hospital but was declared dead noon Wednesday.

According to his mother, Luisa Sagisi Cabuga, 75, the victim had just divorced and was being treated for depression.
