By Erwin Beleo

BAUANG, La Union – A man who was hacked with a bolo during a drunken fight and left for dead survived, police reported.
Jose Gundran, a 29-year-old resident of Barangay Palugsi-Limmasangan, this town, was attacked by his drinking companion, Lando Gundran, 26, after their tempers flared Wednesday night.
Believing he had killed Jose, Lando, with the help of Isagani Galuan, 41, Eriquito Galuan, 46, and Loreto Gundran, 39, dragged the victim to the bottom or a rip-rap and covered him with stones.
Later that night, one of Lando’s companions told Jose’s live-in partner, Diana Baticolon, that he had been killed.
The companion, who was not identified in the police report, accompanied Baticolon to the place where they had left Jose.
They discovered that Jose, despite having several wounds, was unconscious but still alive.
Jose was taken to the Ilocos Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union, where he is now in stable condition.
Police are now looking for Lando Gundran and his three companions.
