P146-M marijuana burned in Kalinga

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga --   Law enforcement agencies uprooted and burned more than P146.5 million worth of marijuana in this remote town last week.
Kalinga police and Drug Enforcement operatives of Region 2 and Cordillera destroyed the illegal plants in Barangay Buscalan.
From August 13 to15, lawmen found nine plantation sites and uprooted 717,900 fully grown marijuana plants.
Part of the marijuana was taken by operatives as evidence.
Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Israel Ephraim T. Dickson cited the operatives for the successful operation.
“We will fulfill our President’s vision of a drug-free Philippines. Police operations against illegal drugs continue to be conducted within the bounds of the law with utmost respect for human rights,” he said.
