PMA cadet dies of cancer


BAGUIO CITY - A cadet passed away on Monday due to serious illness, the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) said here at Fort Del Pilar.
PMA spokesman Capt. Cheryl Tindog confirmed the passing of Cdt. 2nd Class Cedrick Gadia who succumbed to a stage 4 esophageal cancer with liver and lung metastasis. Gadia, 23, died at 5:15 a.m. on Monday at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center in Quezon City.
He was first admitted at the Fort del Pilar Station Hospital on August 29. On September 5 he was transferred to the AFP Medical Center for further treatment where he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. “PMA is deeply saddened for this unfortunate loss and extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Cdt. 2CL Gadia,” Tindog said in a statement.
Gadia’s remains will be brought to Candon, Ilocos Sur. “We will continue to assist him and his family to accord one of our own sons and members of the AFP with the due honor that befits him,” Tindog added.
