Benguet Congress Rep. donates P1M to help fight coronavirus

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- House of Representatives committee on appropriations chairperson and Benguet caretaker congressman Eric Go Yap donated P1 million to augment the financial resources of the province during the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon due to the threat of the COVID-19.
Representatives from the Office of the Congressman led by Head Coordinator Anthony Kuan turned over the donation for the battle against COVID19 to Governor Melchor Diclas and Vice Gov. Johnny Waguis at the Benguet Capitol on Thursday, March 26
The amount is a personal donation of the lawmaker who recently tested positive of the COVID-19.
He earlier   provided Vitamin C to the senior citizens in the province to boost their immune system.
Meanwhile, following Yap’s announcement Wednesday night that he tested positive for COVID-19, Congressman’s Office in Benguet was placed in the state of physical quarantine effective March 26.
“Although we have very minimal reason and proof to believe that the office has indeed been compromised, we have decided that it is better to err on the side of caution to take preventive measures and protect not only for our staff, but largely also our dear constituency as well from this pandemic,” Yap stated   in his social media post .
The Congressman last visited the province in February 20 to 23 during the consultation on the proposed nationalization of the Benguet General Hospital and series of meetings with the local chief executives and line agency heads.
