Local government units (LGUs) have already been asked to submit a list of beneficiaries for the government’s cash assistance of P5,000 to P8,000 for those badly affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Our local chief executives have
already been advised of the need to submit the list of beneficiaries in their
respective areas to the national government,” Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)
for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases spokesperson and Cabinet
Secretary Karlo Nograles said Wednesday in a press briefing.
Nograles said this is the beginning of
the government’s P200-billion subsidy program which targets to benefit some 18 million
low-income households.
The said program is part of the
Bayanihan To Heal As One Act which was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last
week.
“Each family, depending on the minimum
wage in their respective regions, will receive subsidies ranging from 5,000 to
8,000 pesos,” Nograles said.
To receive this subsidy from the
government, Nograles advised the public to cooperate with their respective LGUs
and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“Hintayin lamang po ang hudyat o
anunsyo ng inyong mga LGU hinggil sa takdang pagsisimula ng pamamahagi ng
benepisyong ito (Wait for the LGU’s announcement on when the distribution of
this benefit will start),” he said.
In its Facebook page, DSWD said the
LGUs will distribute social amelioration card (SAC) forms to their constituents
through a “house to house basis.”
