TRINIDAD, Benguet --Mayor Romeo Salda ordered a thorough contact tracing
and disinfection as a village here is put under extreme enhanced comunity
quarantine(EECQ) after a new COVID-19 positive was reported .
The Department of Health
– Cordillera confirmed on Monday, April 20, the newest case of a COVID-19
positive in the region, a 22-year old female nurse from Barangay
Tawang in this town and working at the Baguio General Hospital and
Medical Center(BGCHMC). She is the 25th COVID-19 positive patient in the
region.
Salda immediately issued
Executive Order No. 23 which placed Lower Boted in Barangay Tawang under
EECQ from April 21, 2020 until further notice. This is to ensure
that the COVID-19 virus would not spread in the community while the LGU conducts
necessary measures.
During the
implementation of the EECQ, residents are not allowed to go out of their homes
even on an errand for essential goods. Sari-sari stores located in the area
will not be allowed to open and operate as well.
The municipal government
through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office distribute relief
packs to the affected residents during the duration of the EECQ.
In the conduct of
the contact tracing by medical personnel, they traced at least 50 individuals who
the patient came into contact with in the past days which include family
members, relatives, friends and workmates. They were asked to observe home
quarantine.
The Mayor also ordered
the conduct of sanitation and disinfection of sitio Boted including the
nearby areas.
In Baguio City, Mayor
Benjamin Magalong said that appropriate measures were undertaken by authorities
to facilitate contact tracing, quarantine, disinfection and medical
interventions to prevent transmission.
The patient is the
second nurse from the BGHMC afflicted by COVID-19. The first is a 33-year old
male from Camp 7 in Baguio City. Both nurses are now in stable condition.
