SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- The
municipal government of Bacnotan lifted the lockdown imposed in Barangay
Maragayap through executive order 36 issued by Mayor Francisco Angelito
Fontanilla on Tuesday following the recovery of its first reported Covid-19
patient.
The
41-year-old asymptomatic male patient had travel history in the National
Capital Region and tested positive on June 23.
“His
swab tests conducted on June 25 and June 28 both yielded negative results,”
Fontanilla said.
Also, the first line contacts of
the patient such as his immediate family, neighbors were all tested and cleared
from the virus.
“All
residents of the subject barangay whom the patient had contact with, as
identified by the contact tracing team, were also tested and all yielded
negative results,” the mayor added.
Though
cleared from the virus, the patient was required to undergo 14-day home quarantine,
while those enlisted as close contacts will have to complete their on-going
home quarantine.
Said declaration immediately took effect
right after the issuance on June 30.
“With
the full support and cooperation of the residents in the strict observance of
home quarantine and other public health and safety measures for the entire
duration of the lockdown, Maragayap is again a COVID-19 free community,”
Fontanilla said.
This,
supersedes EO No. 35 or the order to impose lockdown on said village, as well
as the activation of the municipal contact tracing team, issued on June 24.
