BAGUIO CITY -- The Baguio City Health Services Office and the Department of Health - Cordillera confirmed this city had one active Covid-19 case as of Wednesday.
With the recovery of the 44 patients including two senior citizens  who were discharged last week from the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center,  only the  29-year old child development worker  remains  Covid-19 positive case.
Baguio City recorded 47 Covid-19 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.  It includes lone active case, the 44 recoveries and two deaths, both females in their 50’s with co-morbidities.
The city’s 47th Covid-19 patient has revealed her identity for the conduct of the swift contact tracing, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said.
The patient who works  at  the City Social Welfare and Development Office  and  has been  helping  fix the Social Amelioration Card (SAC) forms,  was subjected to the mandatory Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test  for frontline workers on June 29,  and her swab result  which came out on July 2 was  positive.
Personnel of the CHSO fetched her immediately upon getting the COVID-19 positive results and brought her to the Sto. NiƱo Hospital which serves an isolation facility for the city. She is asymptomatic.
The city has not recorded any positive case for five days now.
Aside from its contact tracing system that is instrumental in keeping the city’s COVID-19 cases to a minimum, Magalong continues to strengthen COVID response efforts.
Among the most recent was creation of additional Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams to augment the existing teams to help carry out COVID-19 preparedness and response strategies.
Magalong led a team to Cebu City last week to share the city’s contact tracing method that guides in determining the possible source of infection and who might have been infected. - PIA CAR
