N. Ecija logs 20 new Covid cases, 2 deaths

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – The number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in this province jumped to 282 with 20 new infections recorded in a single day on August 10, the latest report of the Nueva Ecija Inter-Agency Task Force (NEIATF) showed.
Of the new cases, two died, bringing the number of Covid-19-related deaths in the province to 14, the same report said.
This city logged the highest number of new cases at eight while Palayan City, San Jose City and the municipality of San Antonio had two each.
The six other cases came from the municipalities of Rizal, Quezon, Santa Rosa, San Leonardo, Bongabon and Peñaranda at one each, the NEIATF said.
Those who died were Patient 195, a 49-year-old man from Barangay Bantug, Talavera and Patient 239, an 88-year-old woman from Kapitan Pepe Subdivision, Barangay Kapitan Pepe, this city.
A 52-year-old woman from Barangay Adorable, San Leonardo, on the other hand, was added to the list of recoveries, raising the figure to 124.
The report also showed that the eldest among the new cases was a 98-year-old woman from this city, who is now under strict home quarantine.
Gov. Aurelio Umali, who heads the NEIATF, continues to call on the public to observe the minimum health standards to help contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus. (PNA)
