BONTOC, Mountain Province – The voter
registration will resume on Sept. 1in preparation for the May 9, 2022 national
and local elections.
This was announced by
Election Assistant Milton Fillag from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) –
Municipal Office during the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting on
August 19, 2020, in Barangay Gonogon, Bontoc, Mountain Province.
According to Fillag,
aside from voter registration, the Comelec will cater to related voter’s
application to include reactivation, correction of entries, and transfer of
registration records.
He added that
registrants or new voter applicants shall present themselves at the Comelec-
Municipal Office to fill out the necessary form and shall bring a valid
Identification Card or Copy of Live Birth proving that he/she is at least 18
years old on or before the May 9, 2022, national and local elections. Registrants
are encouraged to bring their pens.
Fillag said the
Comelec will impose minimum health standards like limiting the number of people
inside the office, putting up of barriers inside the office, requiring the use
of facemask and face shield, and physical distancing measures.
Registrants will also
be required to fill out a “Coronavirus Self- Declaration Form” which discloses
information relating to travel, contact with people with known Covid-19, and
symptoms being experienced.
To ensure safety and
cleanliness at all times, the Comelec municipal office will conduct
disinfection and decontamination of its premises, as well as the voter
registration machine and peripherals, furniture equipment, and other frequently
touched surfaces.
The Comelec office
here shall cater to voter registration and other related voter’s application
from Tuesday to Saturday, including holidays, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Comelec office is
located at the first floor of Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
The Comelec has suspended the voter registration many times due the
Coronavirus disease -2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
