NPA rebs surrender in Abra; assault rifle found

 MALIBCONG, Abra – Sokme New People’s Army guerillas recently surrendered in Abra even as troops of the 24thInfantry Battalion of the Philippine Army found an M14 rifle in a nipa hut here in Barangay Pacgued during a combat operation.
      According to 24thIB commander Ulysis V. Lauded, the gun belonged to “Rambo” one of top New People’s Army guerillas in the province.  
       Meanwhile, the 7th Infantry Division reported that top-ranking NPAs in Abra and other members have voluntarily surrendered to the 24IB based in Lagangilang along with their firearms and ammunitions. 
Abra Gov. Joy Bernos lauded the surenderees for heeding the call of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) for the rebels to return to mainstream society. 
       “We expect more recovery of NPA firearms and rebels returning in   Abra because of cooperation of local folks and government units in support to the Executive Order No. 70 of President Rodrigo Duterte, institutionalizing a whole-of-nation approach in ending local communist armed-conflict,said 7thID Brig.
