Pangasinan posts 782 Covid cases, 26 deaths

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Gov. Amado I. Espino III has ordered the ramping up of measures to address rising number Covid-19 cases in the province following reports 77 percent of town in Pangasinan have reported Covid-19 infections.
      As of Sept. 24, the Provincial Health Office said Pangasinan had 782 confirmed Covid cases, with 291 active, 465 recoveries and 26 deaths.
      Espino said the 37 municipalities including cities in the province were not battling Covid-19.
      Only 11 municipalities have no active cases.
      The province reported 49 new cases on Sept. 15, its highest single-day increase since March.
      On Sept. 16, 26 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed while 38 new cases were reported on Sept. 17.
      Espino assured support to the 14 provincial government-run hospitals which are now treating COVID-19 patients.
     Three cities and 14 towns in Pangasinan were placed under close watch  Wednesday for having a high number of people infected with coronavirus disease 2019 or Covid-19.
      These areas are Dagupan City with 76 active cases; Calasiao, 19; Binmaley, 18; Bayambang, 16; Urdaneta City, 11; Sta. Barbara, 10; Lingayen, Mangaldan and San Carlos City with nine each; Basista and Malasiqui, seven each; San Fabian, six; Bolinao, Bugallon and Natividad with five each; Sison, four, and Mapandan and Pozorrubio with three each.
      Meanwhile, the towns of Agno, Aguilar, Alcala, Anda, Bani, Burgos, Dasol, Mabini, San Jacinto, San Manuel, San Quintin, Sto. Tomas, Umingan, Urbiztondo and Villasis have not recorded any COVID case.
      To prevent the spread of the disease, Bayambang Mayor Cezar Quiambao issued quarantine and travel passes to residents, imposed work-from-home arrangements and strict implementation of quarantine protocols.
      Starting Wednesday, all establishments were mandated to impose a “no quarantine pass, no entry” policy.
      Calasiao Mayor Joseph Bauzon and Dagupan Mayor Brian Lim imposed a liquor ban in their respective jurisdictions.
      Binmaley Mayor Simplicio Rosario ordered the strict observance of health and safety guidelines in the municipality.
      Since March, the province has recorded 712 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
      Of the figure, 444 have recovered, 244 were confined in hospitals or isolation facilities and 24 died.
Of the 712 confirmed cases, 584 were from different towns and cities while 128 were from Dagupan.
