Bontoc LGU gives facilities, anti-Covid-19 kits to schools

BONTOC, Mountain Province – In time for opening of classes, elementary and secondary private and public schools in this capital town received handwashing facilities, disposable face masks, ethyl alcohol, and thermal scanners Oct. 5 from the Bontoc local government.
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey turned over washing facilities to 26 elementary and secondary private and public schools in this capital town.
Also, 35 thermal scanners, 1,000 boxes of disposable face masks and 300 bottles of ethyl alcohol were received by the schools.
Odsey, a former teacher said with the opening of classes, all schools must adhere to minimum health protocols to include proper wearing of face mask, proper physical distancing, body temperature checks, and practice of good hygiene to include washing of hands with soap and water and sanitizing with ethyl alcohol.
He said items provided to schools will help in the municipality’s fight against Covid-19 as it will protect teachers, students, and parents.
On behalf of all the school heads in Bontoc, Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) principal Atkinson Tudlong extended his gratitude to the Bontoc LGU for its support to the education sector.
Tudlong said items came in timely as the opening of classes in public schools started Oct. 5.
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Johanna Padaen said school heads of the Department of Education Bontoc District had meetings on the allocation of the thermal scanners, disposable face masks and ethyl alcohol to each school.
The disposable face masks were intended for teachers, students, and parents during the distribution of learning modules. -- Alpine L. Killa
