Ifugao town bans entry of pigs, pork products

AGUINALDO, Ifugao -- Entry of live pigs, pork and related products whether cooked or processed, was totally banned here to prevent further spread of African Swine Fever (ASF)   in the municipality.
Mayor Gaspar Chilagan, Jr. said hog deaths continue to rise that require urgent, immediate and drastic measures to prevent spread of ASF and safeguard the municipality’s swine industry as well as the public.
Executive order 2020-38 issued by Chilagan stated social gatherings in the barangays involving butchering of pigs was allowed but confined only in said barangay, provided that pigs must have been checked and declared healthy by the Municipal Agriculture Office.
Visiting technicians of private companies assisting hog raisers in the municipality are not allowed. Unless necessary, technicians must coordinate with the MAO for any referral or query of hog raisers.
The MAO and barangays officials were also ordered to implement 1-7-10 protocol to manage and control ASF from spreading.
The 1-7-10 protocol means in one-kilometer radius from the site of infection or ground zero, hogs will be prohibited from entering or leaving the area, and the site will be eventually depopulated. -- (JDP/MBL- PIA Ifugao
