LINGAYEN,
Pangasinan – The entire province of Pangasinan is mourning the reported
death of former Balungao mayor, and current Liga ng mga Barangay provincial president
and Provincial Board Member Jose “Lito” G. Peralta, Jr.
In a statement issued Oct.
3, by Gov. Amado Espino III, the provincial government of Pangasinan extended
its deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family of the Liga ng
mga Barangay provincial president, who also sits in the provincial board.
Jose “Lito” G. Peralta,
Jr. passed away Oct. 3, around 3 a.m. due to Covid-19, according to the
provincial capitol.
Espino said he
considered Peralta a dedicated public servant, who was also active in
delivering services to his constituents even during the pandemic.
And being the Liga ng mga
Barangay Federation president, he didn’t mind the threat of the deadly virus,
Espino said.
“BM Peralta moved around
the province to extend a helping hand to the afflicted barangays which he
dearly served as Liga ng mga Barangay Federation president.” said Espino.
He noted Peralta as
being supportive of all the endeavors of the provincial government as a
legislator and as a political leader in the fight against Covid-19.
The Liga president
sponsored provincial resolution 314-2020 “encouraging the suspension of the
holding of barangay fiestas” to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Pangasinan at
a time when there was still no confirmed infection in the province.
Peralta was a former
town mayor of Balungao for three terms.
