TUGUEGARAO CITY -- A two-year-old girl became the youngest person to die due to Covid-19 in the province.
According to the
provincial epidemiology and surveillance department, the young victim, tagged
CV 2749, was from Purok 3, Baculud in Iguig town in Cagayan.
She was first
monitored with a fever and had difficulty in breathing on October 22.
However, her
condition worsened as she went to suffer severe pneumonia, and a heart ailment,
before being rushed to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) on Oct. 28.
Her swab sample was
then taken, but she died at 10 p.m. also on Oct. 28.
The result of her
swab test came back the next day, confirming that she was positive for
Covid-19.
The young girl was
the 41st to have died from the viral disease in Region 2, and
the eighth in Cagayan province.
She was also among
the 14 new cases of Covid-19 which were reported on Oct. 29.
There were 13 new
cases tallied in Alcala, Tuao, and Lal-lo towns, as well as in Tuguegarao
City.
Local and community
transmission were still identified as the cause for the newest batch of
infections.
Among the new cases
was a three-day-old female infant from Dalaoig, Alcala, who was having difficulty
in breathing, and is now at the CVMC.
