JONES, Isabela — Citing a spike in Covid-19 cases, local
government officials here want to revert to modified enhanced community
quarantine or MECQ.
The town Tuesday logged 11 cases, eight of them businessmen.
Authorities said the patients were exposed to a personnel of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Eighty-seven contacts of the new cases have been identified.
The adjacent town of San Agustin recorded three other cases traced to the BIR personnel.
Malacañang had earlier said it is up to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases or IATF to decide on proposals to extend or revert to stricter community quarantine.
The provincial and regional IATF have yet to act on the request of the Jones municipal government.
