Erwin BeleoBAUANG, La Union – Police are now trying to establish identities of persons who stabbed to death a man here on Nov. 1.
The body of the man, who was later identified as a teacher, was found by a fisherman on the shores of Barangay Pagdalagan Sur here on All Saints Day.
The victim, who was later identified as 40-year-old Joel Mendoza, a teacher at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Mid La Union Campus in San Fernando City, La Union, bore stab wounds in different parts of the body, according to a police report.
The victim was a resident of Barangay Parian, San Fernando City.
According to the report, a fisherman, who was a resident of Barangay Pagdalagan Sur, went to check on his fishing boat at around 4:30 a.m. when he noticed a body that looked like it was washed ashore on the beach.
The victim was found with stab wounds in different parts of the body.
Bauang police are now coordinating with the San Fernando City police in investigating the teacher’s killing.
Relatives said they last saw the victim going to a birthday party.
Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.

destroyed over P20.8-million worth of illegal drugs last October.

the period, police conducted 29 operations that resulted in confiscation and
seizure of illegal drugs worth P20,789,532.
The contraband was composed of 75,850 fully grown marijuana plants, 71,200 seedlings and 20,000 grams of stalks of the illegal plants and 55.96 grams of methamphetamine.
A total of 28 suspects were arrested during the period wherein 22 cases were filed in court while a total of 11 drug personalities surrendered to authorities.
A certain Benjie A Alaban, 32, tricycle driver, resident of Atok, Flora, Apayao was reportedly arrested Oct. 28 with a companion identified as Hominick Alawid Bacday, 30, farmer, resident of Poblacion West, Flora.
Three sachets containing suspected shabu, pouch and assorted drug paraphernalia were reportedly confiscated from them.193

He had a recommended bail bond of P72,000 issued by Judge Jerson E. Angog of RTC, Branch 25, Tabuk City, Kalinga for violation of Republic Act 9262 known as Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Ilocos region police director, installed Col. Wilson Doromal as the new Ilocos Sur police chief on Oct. 30.

P’sinan’s ‘top carnapper’ nabbed at husband’s wake

SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija -- Elements of the Pangasinan Provincial Highway Patrol Team and the Nueva Ecija police arrested the most wanted carnapper of Pangasinan at the wake of her husband in Nueva Ecija.
The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group identified the suspect as 53-year-old Mary Jane Tolentino Bautista of Barangay Rosario, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.
She was arrested by the Pangasinan PHPT and Nueva Ecija police last Oct. 29 while attending the wake of her husband in Barangay Papaya, San Antonio, Nueva Ecija.
Elements of the Pangasinan Provincial Highway Patrol Team and Nueva Ecija local police arrest what they called “most wanted carnapper of Pangasinan.”
Meanwhile, authorities here encouraged victims of carnapping to file their complaint at the PNP-HPG Pangasinan.
They reiterated their warning to the public to be careful and verify records and documents thoroughly before buying second hand vehicles.
Bus hits tricycle in Ilocos Norte; 2 dead

Police said Flaviano Macatumbas Jr., 44, and Gerome Querabo, 29, were declared dead on arrival at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City.
Initial investigation showed the tricycle was hit by the mini bus while overtaking a car in Barangay 22.
The driver of the bus, Jonathan Yarte, 37, was unhurt.
Jealous hubby stabs wife to death for having a chat mate

BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan --
A 25-year-old housewife was allegedly brutally stabbed to death by her husband
at their residence here in Barangay Zone 6 after he suspected her of having a
chat mate Nov. 2.
According to
the Bayambang police, Geneva De Guzman sustained multiple stab wounds in the
chest and back believed to have been inflicted by her husband Ronmel De Guzman,
32.
Probers said Ronmel was under the influence of liquor when the incident happened 9 p.m. on Monday.

The report
added the suspect was having fits of jealousy after learning that his wife had
a chat mate.
This
reportedly enraged him into stabbing Geneva with a kitchen knife.
The victim
was rushed to the Bayambang District Hospital in Bayambang town but was
declared dead on arrival.
Ronmel is now
under the custody of Bayambang police.
