DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – Some 600 market vendors and 400 boatmen here received financial assistance worth P5,000 each and grocery items containing canned goods, rice, noodles and vitamins from the Dept. of Social Welfare and Development and office of Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go.
DSWD Undersecretary Aimee Neri said the assistance was part initiated by the senator dubbed Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
The distribution of financial aid held Feb. 29 at the City Plaza here, was personally delivered by the senator with government agencies’ officials.
In his speech, Go said the aid given by the government intends to extend help to individuals whose normal functioning was hampered by the pandemic.
Go also provided food packs, masks, face shields, meals, computer tablets, shoes and bicycles to beneficiaries.
The AICS program is DSWD’s protective service program for the poor, marginalized and vulnerable or disadvantaged individuals. -- PIA Pangasinan
