DILG checks La Union road clearing operations

By Caren Grace R. Cabanayan

SAN FERNANDO CITY -- The Dept. of Interior and Local Government started cross validation among local government units in  La Union on implementation of road clearing operations.
Road clearing was suspended due to the pandemic but resumed October last year pursuant to DILG memorandum circular 2020-145.
Series of validation was conducted starting Feb. 16 until the end of the month.
Sison said LGUs who failed to fully implement the memo and committed road clearing violations will be issued a show cause order.
The DILG will be roaming around the province with other partner government agencies and private stakeholders.
“Sa cross validation ay kasama natin ang police at BFP (Bureau of Fire Proetection) at isang non-government organization mula sa mismong munisipiyo o siyudad na ating pupuntahan,” he said.
Meanwhile, the provincial director also clarified that road clearing operation is different from road widening.
