Fake doctor nabbed for estafa, usurpation cases

BAGUIO CITY -- A fake doctor wanted for several cases of estafa and usurpation of authority was arrested here at City Camp Lagoon, Lower Rock Quarry on April 19.
    A Baguio City Police Office identified the suspect as Job Johann Tumada Calano, 43, overseas foreign worker.
    The suspect was arrested based on warrants of arrest for five counts of estafa and eight counts of usurpation of authority.
    The warrants of arrest served against the suspect were three counts of estafa with bail set at P300,000 for each case, another two counts of estafa with bail of P200,000 for each case issued by different judges and eight counts of violation of Art. 177 of the Revised Penal Code or usurpation of authority, with bail of P10,000 for each case.
    Based on the investigation conducted by the operatives, Calano claimed to be an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation, showing the badge in his wallet that was removed from the shooting competition trophy of his father.
    Also, he allegedly claimed to be a doctor to entice clients, but failed to provide supporting documents for such. 
The suspect who had total bail set at P1, 580,000 was detained at Pacdal Police Station.
 

3 men held for rape, carnap

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet –Police arrested three wanted persons in the region recently. 
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the suspects as RJ Dilangsoy, 28, of Bulanao, Kalinga; Rudolfo Cocoy Delian, 29, of Sitio Dangdangla, Cardiz, Bagulin, La Union and Jeshryl Art Amango Kiso, 24, of Bantayan, Dantakan, Kapangan, Benguet. Delian was nabbed April 16 by Kapangan police and Benguet Intelligence Unit in Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet for rape.
    On April 19, police arrested Kiso for rape allegedly committed January 2021 in Kapangan.
    On April 20, Cordillera police, Region 2 Highway Patrol Group, and CIDG arrested Dilangsoy for carnapping in Isabela in April 2016. Cail was set at P200,000 for his temporary liberty. 

Farmer nabbed for shabu in Tabuk

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Police and Drug Enforcement agents arrested a farmer here for illegal drugs morning of April 14.  
Citing reports of Kalinga provincial police office, Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee identified the suspect as Donato Bocad Sinumlag, 35, here of Binongsay, Malin-awa.
    Found and confiscated in his house were nine sachets, each containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu weighing 1.5 grams valued at P10, 200 and drug paraphernalia.
    Inventory of items was conducted at the site in the presence of the wife of the arrested suspect, elder of Barangay Binongsay and a media representative.
    Sinumlag is now facing charges on the violation of R.A 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
 

Man wanted for rape cornered in Mt Prov after 12 years hiding


BAUKO, Mountain Province -- A man wanted for rape was arrested in this town April 19 after 12 years in hiding.
Cordillera police director Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee identified the suspect as Rosario “Sario” Cayabas Agustin, 52, farmer and former driver.
    Agustin, the top 8 “most wanted person” (MWP) on the regional level for the second quarter of 2021, was nabbed as a result of intensive monitoring of intelligence operatives and civilians who provided information.    
    Agustin was arrested through the joint efforts of the Baguio City police, Ifugao provincial police, RMFB15, and PNP-SAF operatives.
    Lee said the suspect was tracked down in Sitio Sugo, Guinzadan, Bauko where he hid for 12 years with the help of his former colleagues who positively identified him and gave info on his possible whereabouts.
    Cayabas was accused of rape through sexual assault under criminal case 29413-R and had a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Iluminada P. Cabato of the Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 59, Baguio City.  
 

4 nabbed in Benguet for drugs, guns, bullets


CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Four persons were arrested for illegal drugs and firearms in buy-bust operations in Abra and Benguet on April 18 and 19.   
Based from the reports given by respective Provincial Offices, regional police director Brig. Gen. Ronal O. Lee identified suspects as Diagan Wansi Edegan, 29; Romeo Rosel Mocay Jr., 33 and live-in partners, Ariel Dumlao Benedito, 43 and Anna Liza Abella Millare, 42. 
    On April 18, Abra police oarrested live-in partners Benedito and  Millare in Barangay Bangbangar, Bangued Cemetery after they allegedly sold illegal drugs to police who acted as buyer. 
Seized from the suspects were five sachets of suspected shabu weighing ss two grams worth P13,600,  two lighters, pistol holster;  Llama Cal. 7.65mm, magazine assembly, seven 7.65 mm bullets,  buy-bust money, P1,000 cash  and Honda RS 150 motorcycle. 
On the same day, Benguet operatives also arrested Edegan along Barangay Bulalacao, Mankayan, after he allegedly sold illegal drugs to a cop.
 Confiscated from him were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 0.24 grams worth P1,632, P1000 cash ad cell phone.
Meanwhile on April 19, Benguet police led by the Regional Intelligence Division arrested Romeo Rosel Mocay Jr after transacting with a cop. Mocay sold two sachets of suspected shabu P3,400 in Longlong Road, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Confiscated from the suspect were Huawei touchscreen cellular phone, and buy-bust money and P2,000 cash.
Cases for illegal drugs and firearms were filed against suspects.

3 nabbed for shabu in Baguio buy-bust

BAGUIO CITY – Police and Drug Enforcement agents arrested three persons here April 20 here at Bakakeng Norte in a drug buy-bust operation.
    Based on the report from Legarda Police Station, suspects were identified as Michelle Marco Perocho, 39; Alex Lanz Vitonio Santos, 39 and Ariel  Malabed Pescador, 21, all residents of  Baguio City.
    Prior to the buy-bust, the three suspects agreed to a meet at Bakakeng Norte for the transaction.
    They were arrested after an underground cop bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth P6,800 from the suspects.
Police also confiscated from the suspects another sachet with suspected shabu worth P3,400, cell phone used during transaction, and buy-bust money.
    Inventory of the seized items was done at the site witnessed by Kagawad Susana Wadwadan of Bakakeng Norte and media representative Charles Nico Limon of Regional Network Group.
`Charges for illegal drugs were filed against the suspects.


La Trinidad jueteng bet collector held

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- A joint anti-illegal gambling operation of Benguet Criminal Investigation Detection Group and La Trinidad police resulted to the arrest of a farmer for collecting bets for bookies here at Barangay Shilan morning of April 19. 
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the suspect as Raymond Austria Quintino, 58, farmer.
    According to CIDG Benguet, they received a call from a concerned citizen reporting that a man illegally collecting bets in their area. At the said barangay, suspect Quintino was caught collecting bets for bookies (jueteng) by the operatives.
    When asked to show any document that can prove that he is a legitimate Small Town Lottery personnel, he failed to show any. 
    He was then arrested by the operatives. 
    Conficated from him were bet money, ligaho/labasan (list of winning bets) piece of paper with bet numbers.
    Quintino and confiscated items were brought to CIDG Benguet office where a case for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling) was prepared against him.
