POULTRY BUSINESS—Barangay
Bayabas of Malibcong, Abra is beneficiary of poultry business introduced by
government to lure locals from influence of insurgents. Considered as the
farthest barangay of Malibcong, it can only be reached by 4 wheel-drive trucks
or jeepneys. Here stakeholders pose for posterity.

MALIBCONG, Abra--The Provincial Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed-Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) has launched a training and production program dubbed "Manukan sa Barangay" at Barangay Bayabas, in this municipality.
With this project, a poultry house will be established while training courses such as masonry, carpentry, poultry production, entrepreneurship and competency assessment will be implemented.
. The poultry house will initially focus on poultry raising, however, residents can also venture into egg production for product diversification.
Bayabas is one of the identified focus areas of the PTF-ELCAC by bringing government services and programs to spur livelihood development and to dissuade residents from influence communist groups.
Considered as the farthest barangay of Malibcong, Bayabas can be reached by 4 wheel-drive trucks or jeeps.
The dirt roads are prone to landslides and the place can hardly be reached during rainy season.
Training programs will offered for the residents.
The government will implement infrastructure projects in the area such as health station, concreting of Bayabas Elementary School Building and farm to market roads.

Government offices present during the launching were Technical Skills and Development Authority, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Dept. of Labor and Employment, Provincial Government of Abra, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.
Others were officials of Departments of Trade and Industry, Social Welfare and Development, Public Works and Highways, of Agriculture, Interior and Local Government, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency
Aside from Bayabas, the PRLEC also launched other training and production programs in Malibcong barangays Dulao, Duldulao and Buanao. – PIA Abra
