29,637 vaccinated against Covid-19 in Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY –A total of 18,876 health care workers (A1), 7,917 adults with comorbidities (A2), and 2,844 senior citizens (A3) for a total of 29,637 out of the 41,285 targeted individuals for the three groups were vaccinated in designated sites as of May 12,
    On vaccine brands, disaggregated numbers present those inoculated with Sinovac as first dose is 15,949 and as second dose is 7,388; for a total of 23,337; and Astrazeneca first dose for 5,800 and second dose for 500 individuals for a total of 6,300 was counted.
    The numbers jive with the earlier total of 29,637 for vaccinated individuals.
    The figures were collated and confirmed by Dr. Khecy Manuel-Colas of the Health Service Office with Dept. of Health.   
    Vaccination was done simultaneously at Saint Louis University (SLU) Gym, University of Baguio (UB) Gym, SLI at St. Vincent Naguilian, and SM.
    Other wide areas are being eyed as vaccination sites.  
     There was a noticeable eagerness of Baguio citizens to be vaccinated with the long lines forming in the vaccine sites, it was reported. Registration onsite and inquiries for online also increased the past days.
    As for the total targeted and vaccinated individuals as to priority; the A1 target is 13,053 but was surpassed due to a total of 18,876 vaccinated health care workers.
    For Sinovac, 7,710 were vaccinated with the first dose, and 6,091 with the second dose, for a total of 13, 801. For Astrazeneca, 4,575 got jabbed with the first dose, and 500 with the second dose, for a total of 5,075 innoculated individuals. 12,285 got the first dose and 6,591 as second dose from both brands.
    For adults with comorbidities, there were 21,732 targeted individuals; with 6,692 having Sinovac and 1,225 with Astrazeneca for a total of 7,917 first dosers. Vaccination for this group, A2, is ongoing. 
    For the senior citizens or A3 group, 6500 is on the target; with 1,547 and 1,297 having Sinovac as first and second dose for a total of 2,844. No senior citizen was innoculated with Astrazeneca as first or second dose.
    A disaggregated total of 21,749 for the first dose, and 7,888 for the second dose for a total of 29,637 vaccinated individuals were counted.
    According to Health Services Officer Rowena Galpo, efforts are done to facilitate vaccination in all sites, with help from the Local Government Unit headed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and all other sectors.
    Risk Communication Management Officer Cecile Agpawa in an earlier media forum explained that eagerness for the vaccine may be attributed to behavioral changes due to reliable and evidence-based instructions.    
Vaccinees are also assisted throughout the process, with counselling or information sharing to ease discomfort and anxiety, and at least one hour stay at the vicinity for observation of side or aftereffects of the vaccine.
Adults with comorbidities are requested to bring legitimate medical certificates form physicians or authorized health personnel. 
Priority for vaccination are the following: health workers, senior citizens, adults with comorbidities, working sector, indigent sector, teachers and social workers, other government and essential workers, those at high risk, overseas foreign workers, and the rest of the population
