Baguio investment priorities bared

By Gaby B. Keith

BAGUIO CITY -- City budget officer Leticia Clemente on Wednesday said the city is drumming up its investment priorities now that the world is hopefully seeing the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a media forum at City Hall, she also said the Summer Capital is stepping up in promoting itself as an investment haven that is open to all local and international investors.
Clemente echoed Mayor Benjamin Magalong's declaration that 2022 will be a "banner year" for the city as shown by several multimillion projects set to be implemented this year, including the steady rise in business and building applications.
She presented the city's 18 priority investment areas like the Baguio Sewer Treatment Plant Upgrade and Fecal Sludge Management Project and the Asin Hydroelectric Power Plant that is currently owned and managed by the city government.
Also included are the Burnham Park Rehabilitation Project, Baguio City Abattoir, Luna Terraces Permaculture Community, Baguio Convention and Cultural Center Complex, Irisan EcoPark (Phase 2), Maharlika Livelihood Center; and Baguio City Wright Park Development Project.
"We are hoping for the best this year and the years ahead as we start the beginning of a 'new day', a 'new Baguio,'" Clemente said.
