Baguio requires approval for private events

By Liza Agoot

BAGUIO CITY – The city government here said residents may now hold private gatherings but the venue needs to be inspected and approved a week before the set date.
Aileen Refuerzo, Public Information Office chief, in a phone interview on Monday, said the rule is part of Executive Order 5-2022 issued by Mayor Benjamin Magalong on January 7 providing for measures to control the further spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Refuerzo said “the host must first obtain a permit to gather from the mayor’s office at least seven days before the conduct of the private gathering activity, the approval of which will be subject to the inspection of the City Health Service Office (CHSO)".
The host must also ensure that attendance at the event would only be 30 percent of the capacity if indoors and 50 percent if outdoors.
“Ang pwede lang mag-attend yung mga vaccinated (only the vaccinated individuals are allowed to attend),” she added.
The city government issued a prohibition on the conduct of private gatherings after the holidays after it was found that those who contracted the virus attended get-togethers during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The city logged a skyrocketing number of Covid-19 cases this January believed to be due to the Omicron variant. -- PNA
